It is an interesting field in Hobart, in what is a tournament that can throw up some interesting results and interesting finalists over the years. Rather than roll through this quarter by quarter, I am going to highlight a couple of players that have caught my eye overall.
WTA Hobart Outright Betting Tips
The two favourites in the market are one who struggled after a set last week (Amanda Anisimova) and another who withdrew before the tournament began (Elise Mertens). Hobart has been a happy hunting ground for Mertens in the past, however it is hard to confidently jump into her price in this one. Next in the market is Olga Danilovic who finished 2024 well but perhaps looks a little under the odds here first up, Clara Tauson coming off a title in Auckland, Anhelina Kalinina who looked to struggle a touch physically late in her Brisbane semi final last week, and Sofia Kenin, who has lacked the consistency you’d want to see from someone who is near the top of the market.
That forces me to look elsewhere in search of value, and there are two names that have caught my eye. The first is Yue Yuan at $17, who looked great here last year before a career best year on tour. Her draw looks solid, and if she can overcome Osorio first up she is certainly capable here.
The second name is Maya Joint. The Aussie wildcard has recently turned pro, and she put in two solid performances in Brisbane. This is a massive opportunity for the teenager, and with a level near her best, she could certainly feature in the weekend action with the title on the line. It’s a tough first match against Danilovic, however the outright pricing here does warrant a small play.
