Victorian racing on Friday night heads to Moonee Valley, where nine races have been set down. The track as of Wednesday evening is a Good 4 and the track should be in fine order after racing last week. Find Adam Page's best bets for Moonee Valley below, and good luck to everyone following along!
Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday December 13 2024
Race 4: Aged Care @ Cirka Handicap (64) 2500m - 7.45pm AEDT
8 Whatsanamegeorge looks great value here in what appears to be a weak contest. He comes over from SA in pretty solid form, his latest run being over 2250m at Morphettville Parks just under two weeks ago when attempting to lead throughout and giving a solid enough kick but just couldn't quite see it through when third. Love the booking of Linda Meech. She'll take the gelding to the front, get control and take running down.
3 Galilaeus is a Team Freedman trained stayer that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since June 19 at Sandown when back near last in the run and although he made up ground, he was never a factor behind Senor Uno. First up at 2500m clearly signals intent and this isn't a deep race re depth.
2 You Betcha Woo was a surprise track/distance winner from two weeks back but credit to him, he gave them a start and a beating, and was impressive. The runs prior were sound and he loved the rise to 2500m, so I think he has to be respected.

Race 6: Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge Heat 9 (70) 955m - 8.45pm AEDT
7 Moon And Back does tend to save her best for this track/distance and although she'll need luck in the run, she's a good enough price to find out if she can get the luck. I reckon they rode her too warm at Caulfield Heath last time and it took away something from her finale. Ridden cold, waiting for gaps, she can explode late.
4 Big Me is a good horse for Nick Ryan so keen to see him in town. He resumed on testing ground at Bendigo where he looked a moral on paper and despite a few nervous moments, class kicked in and he was much too good in a sharp return. Harder here, but confident he measures up.
1 Orlabent is a Melody Cunningham trained sprinter that resumes. He hasn't raced since Aug 15 on the Ballarat Synthetic when racing over 1000m, sitting on speed and tried hard, but found one better in one of the better Synthetic horses in Australia, Rosalia. Trial work has been sharp, he'll land on speed and be hard to get past.

Race 8: Retail @ Cirka Handicap (70) 1200m - 9.45pm AEDT
1 Grassmere Jewel is a beauty for Adam Chambers and commands respect. She ran over 1200m at Warrnambool last start when on speed but just couldn't quite see it through when second to Dubai Dancer. Very genuine animal that will try her guts out.
2 Apache Song has to be given respect after her spank job win two weeks ago at this track/distance, though I will say she did get a peach front running steer from B Shinn and she gave nothing else a look in to win. More depth here and does lose B Shinn but off last start, she is one of the hardest to beat.
5 Imapagethree Girl is a Henry Dwyer trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since July 19 at Mildura when on speed and tiring late when midfield behind Head'em. Has looked strong in trial/jumpout work and does go well fresh so watch the market.
