Xiyu Wang vs Paula Badosa

Time: Approx 10:10pm AEDT

Personally, I wasn't overly impressed in the level of Paula Badosa first up in round 1 against Shnaider. Although I did oppose her in the round and she managed to get the chocolates, it did look and feel as though Shnaider mentally checked out after missing some chances to edge towards a set and a break lead, and took a medical timeout in the third set as the wheels started to completely come off. October on the tennis tour is a funny time of the year, and with the Spaniard winning less than 38% of points behind her second serve, she did look a little vulnerable at times.

I am personally a big fan of the game of Xiyu Wang, and I do feel as though her level is much better than her current ranking of 98 suggests. There is a need for her to make the most of the Asian tennis swing, as her WTA 100 Tokyo and Guangzhou ranking points from last year, where she made the final and won respectively, have now come off her ranking. After a strong showing against Mirra Andreeva in Ningbo, she bounced back strongly in round 1 here, defeating Rakhimova as a slight favourite 6-2 6-0. She has an aggressive style, and that appeals to me greatly here given her price is currently $4 in this match up.

Happy to attack the moneyline for a play.
