Victorian racing on Wednesday heads to Sandown Lakeside, where eight races have been set down. The track as of Monday evening is a Good 4 and with fine weather forecast, I think it won't improve too much.

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday August 21st 2024
Race 3: Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap 2100m - 2.10pm AEST
(9) Dustland Fairytale does tend to save her best for bog tracks but that said, she is flying for Lindsey Smith and is worth and each way ticket. Let down and finished best to win two back at Warrnambool before going to the mile here. She got back and was never threatening but her finale was very good in defeat. Like her up in trip and remains down in the weights.
(1) The Devil In Her brings the A1 form and is in well after the claim. She comes through the VOBIS Gold Stayers at Caulfield where she was as game as ever from off the speed but had no answers late for Ferago, who would be odds on against these. The mini freshen up I do like and also a tick she comes back in trip.
(7) Sea Of Lights has been well placed this prep and as such has been racing in pretty solid form. Thought her run last Tuesday at Ballarat Synthetic was quite good, working home strongly nearer the inside when a close up third to a proven city performer, Rudhayr. Back to Mares grade, hard fit and in form, she appeals.

$10/$2.90 (0.5U/2.5U)
Race 6: Ive > Handicap 1300m - 3.55pm AEST
I think the odds on offer for (6) Struck Gold are enticing enough to speck. He has been kept on the fresh side, his last run being on July 24 on the Hillside track here when getting run of the race behind the speed but found nothing in the straight. Fresh legs, big jockey upgrade and I think firmer footing, he can run a much-improved race.
(1) Zoupurring brings the best form. Team Corstens trained gelding that ran down the straight at Flemington last time and kept finding the line in a pretty good effort behind Shaime in a race which had far greater depth than what he faces here, he gets the claim...definite threat.
(4) Prevailed is two weeks between runs since winning at this track/distance. He got a dream run on speed and was trucking under Rawiller before being clicked up and credit to him, he found under pressure to fend them off and win. Gets B Shinn and despite more depth, he commands respect.

Race 8: Sportsbet Same Race Multi Handicap 1500m - 5.05pm AEST
Best on the program for me is (3) Divine Purpose, who is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Moody/Coleman trained mare that ran over 1400m three weeks ago at Flemington where she got off the speed and took a little while to wind into her work but was good late in the piece behind Justdoit. Up in trip, her best is more than good enough to win this.
(10) She's Pretty Rich is bursting to win for Matty Brown. She ran two weeks ago over 1400m here. She tried hard from off the speed but couldn't get past Royal Invader, who was blessed in run and was too good, but this mare was game. Maps perfect once again and does get B Shinn, which is a big tick.
(4) Sharp Response has run well in town before and I think is in with shout after racing at Ballarat last time. He got off the pace and was never really a winning threat, but his finale was more than sound in defeat behind Epice Dieu. Racing like a rise in trip suits and his best is good enough.
