AFL Round 22 Preview & Betting Tips
Richmond vs St Kilda
Marvel Stadium, Sunday, 3.20pm (AEST)
The season to forget continues for the Tigers after they lost their seventh straight game to the Kangaroos in Round 21. With the loss, they now trail the Kangaroos by four points at the bottom of the AFL ladder, and are in danger of picking up their first wooden spoon since all the way back in the 2007 season.
Saints fans have had slightly more to cheer about this season, but not by much. They recorded solid back to back wins over the Eagles and Bombers in Rounds 19 and 20 to climb out of the bottom four but were handed an 85 point lesson by the Lions under the roof in Round 21.
The Saints have battled a tough injury list for the majority of the season with key players in the likes of Max King, Marcus Windhager, Brad Crouch, Liam Henry, Jack Hayes and Seb Ross never really being able to play consistent games. Paddy Dow and Riley Bonner will also come out of the side this week, making way for Ryan Byrnes and Hunter Clark.
The Tigers made four changes this week, most notably Dustin Martin, who announced his immediate retirement throughout the week. Also coming out of the side is Tom Brown, Steely Green and Liam Baker while Samson Ryan, Jacob Bauer, Kaleb Smith and Thomson Dow all come in.
The Saints have a habit of catching teams when they have some extra motivation, and the retirement of Dustin Martin should certainly give the Tigers and extra spark. However, I don’t think it’ll be enough to win this game. They have been absolutely dismal over their last seven games, losing all of them by an average margin of 37.7 points. I think the Saints cover the 25.5 point line under the roof.

Jack Sinclair 25+ Disposals - Sinclair has been far and away the Saints best player this season, and should pick up his third straight Trevor Barker Medal in the off-season. Has had 25+ in 14/19 games this season and his last three in a row.
Rowan Marshall 20+ Disposals - Marshall has had a strong last month, racking up at least 20 touches in three of his last four games. When the Saints met the Tigers back in Round 4, he had 23 touches and a goal.
Cooper Sharman 2+ Goals - Sharman has been in stellar form since coming back into the side in Round 16. In those six games, his goal tallies have been 1-2-2-2-3-0. Is a genuine target man with King out of the side and should continue to get plenty of opportunity on Sunday.
