Canterbury Park Racing Tips: Wednesday, August 7th 2024
Race 1: Precise Air BM64 1550m – 1:25pm (AEST)
(2) It’s a Knockout $2.40: 4YO who debuted in style leading all the way and showing true grit to finish well and hold the swoopers off. Looks a nice mare out of Dundeel. Rises out to 1550m now second up and will only be better prepared now second up. Nash Rawiller jumps into the saddle and she gets a handy draw. Expect another bold showing from this mare who looks like she will be a classy type.
(3) California Sunrise $3.40: 4YO mare who is on the quick back up and gets a drop in grade now, but is rock hard fit now and going well enough to win this. Gets a handy draw and slightly back in distance too looks like itll suit. Most recently in BM72 grade came second, but had gaps to third. Worth thought again.
(8) Mountain Top $5.00: 4YO mare who broke maiden in nice fashion first up where she travelled 3 wide the trip and on the straight showed a terrific TOF and destroyed the others by almost 4L. Appreciate that this is now tougher company, but cannot fault off that performance and expect her to only improve out in trip. James McDonald jumps on now, so must be respected.
(8) Mountain Top
$5.00 (1 Unit)
Race 5: James Squire BM72 1900m - 3:45pm (AEST)
(1) Angel Down $10.00: 4YO mare who was disappointing when resuming over 1400m, but now gets out to 1900m where she appears to do her best work. Finished off her last campaign over 1800m where she pinched the race and held them off to win nicely. Expect her to improve off that first up run significantly, but may need one more?
(2) Demarcray $4.00: 6YO gelding who battled on nicely over this trip/class last time out to finish second. J-Mac stays on and deserves another chance here. Only issue is he finds it hard to win with only 1 career win from 20 starts and 7 seconds. Watch the market.
(3) The Englishman $5.50/$2.00: 5YO gelding who has been racing well enough in BM78 grade. Two runs back came from near last and had to peel three wide before the corner and only just missed. Most recently held on fairly for the conditions he had to race on and was well supported in the market. Drops in grade now and is rock hard fit. Expect another bold run and happy to have at an EW price.
(3) The Englishman E/W
$5.50/$2.00 (1U/2U)
Race 7: Schweppes BM72 1550m – 4:55pm (AEST)
(1) Gracilistyla $6.50/$2.40: Freshened 6YO grey who has had too many chances and burnt me too many times, but the form still suggests he is capable of winning these races Most recently he ran a nice race in BM78 grade where she hit the line nicely and looks as though she will appreciate a rise in trip now. She drops back to BM72 class and J-Mac jumps back on who has seen success with him previously. Draws well and is again a chance. Each way play.
*SCRATCHED* (5) Yasuke $4.80: 5YO gelding who was terrific at odds last start where he flew from the rear on the outside to only miss out by a head bob on Little Cointreau (Looks a handy type). Draws wide again here today, but expect him to slot in midfield/backmarker and with any luck the speed is hot allowing for this fella to show that nice TOF he did last start and pick them up. Rise in trip looks as though it’ll suit off that last start run. Goes well.
(6) Noble Conqueror $5.50: 5YO gelding who is hard fit now and also rises in trip now, but has to rise in trip and grade, but is stuck with the same weight. Will be around the mark.
