The Saints snapped their three game losing streak with an impressive win over the Eagles in Perth last week. Mason Wood was best on ground for the Saints in the win, racking up 22 touches and booting four goals while Paddy Dow was impressive in just his 2nd game for the Saints with 22 touches.
The Saints are now 4-8 on the season and have a tough stretch of games coming up as they face the Suns, Lions, Power and Swans over their next four. The positive is that three of those games will come under the roof at Marvel Stadium, regardless, the Saints will need a minor miracle to force their way back into finals contention from here.
The Suns bounced back from a loss to the Blues in Round 11 with a solid win over teh Bombers in Alice Springs on Sunday evening. With the win, they moved to 7-5 on the season and reclaimed their spot in the top eight, having won three of their last four.
The Suns midfield dominated in the win over the Bombers, as Sam Flanders, Noah Anderon and Touk Miller racked up 94 touches between them. Ben King continued his great 2024 with another four goal performance, taking him equal top of the Coleman Medal tally.
Match Prediction
The Suns start as 2.5 point favourites on the road, which I think is a little disrespectful to them given they haven’t really put a foot wrong over the last month or so. Their only loss in that period was to the Blues in a game where they challenged throughout before allowing a few late goals to have the margin stretch out to 29 points.
The Saints major issue this season has been their ability to compete in the midfield and they will be going up against one of the best midfields in the league on Saturday night. When the Saints last came up against a midfield of this caliber, they were battered by the Demons, who dominated possession resulting in a 67-41 inside 50 count.
Think the Suns control the midfield battle and win this won comfortably under the roof at Marvel Stadium.
