Round 10 of the 2024 AFL season wraps up on Sunday with three rather uninspiring matches with three big favourites who are expected to dominate. First up, the Bombers will be looking to consolidate their top four chances with a big win over the Kangaroos at Marvel Stadium. We then head to Adelaide where the Power will host the Hawks, before we finish up at Optus Stadium in Perth where the Eagles will be hoping to upset the Dees.
Draftstars continue to offer massive prize pools with the Sunday main contest worth $60,000 along with their usual variety of alternate contests:

Weather
Melbourne - Scattered showers, 15 degrees.
Adelaide - Partly cloudy, 16 degrees.
Perth - Partly cloudy, 27 degrees.
Some showers in Melbourne but the closed roof at Marvel Stadium will take care of that. No issues with rain in Adelaide or Perth so we should be in for some fair weather football!
Where to Attack?
On a slate with three massive favourites and three teams who are among the leakiest AFL fantasy teams in the league, there’s plenty of ways to tackle this slate and some strong stacking opportunities.
North Melbourne are the worst team in the competition so it’s no surprise they give up massive numbers to opposition forwards, in particular key position players. Stack up on an Essendon goal fest.
Hawthorn have been playing better in recent weeks, but this season they still concede above average points to inside mids and to opposition rucks. The Power have a number of different midfielders who could have massive games.
Finally the Eagles are exploitable in the ruck, and with Max Gawn the #1 ruck in the game, you can expect him to be a popular choice in this slate. The Eagles also give up above average points to opposition midfielders and forwards, so you can load up on the Dees. If you want to include a few Eagles, then look for their defenders. Melbourne do concede points to opposition defenders and the Eagles are known for chipping the ball around aimlessly so this could be a good play.
Game scripts: Essendon stacks, Port Adelaide midfield, Melbourne stacks, West Coast defenders
VALUE PLAYS
With a number of weaker teams in action, there’s plenty of $6,000 options on this slate which should give you the budget for premiums. Finding the right value play will be key!
Josh Sinn ($6,000) looked good in his first game of the season last week with a score of 56 and he gets a good opportunity to string some consistent games together here. Sinn was a first round draft pick in 2021, so the guy can play, he gets a favourable role across half-back and his penetrating left foot means he’ll use it properly.
Dante Visentini ($8,670) came through for us last week and although he’s copped a price bump, he still offers value for us as the solo ruck. Visentini has been chosen here ahead of Jordan Sweet who was apparently right to go, so that shows the faith the coach has. Scored us a 71 last week with 31 hitouts, but I really liked the 4 tackles he applied as he was prepared to get involved. A tougher match up than last week but still a favourable one against Lloyd Meek.
MID PRICED PLAYS
Jake Stringer ($9,990) is a huge downhill skier in my opinion, so not one I normally pick, but the Bombers are skiing down on a massive slope this week against the Roos so I expect “The Package” to get goal hungry. Only averaging 64.8 this season with a high of 82, so he’s a long way from his best, but he’s a confidence player, so if he gets going early, then watch out! If you want to pivot from Kyle Langford ($12,350), then Stringer gives you a discounted shot at a big bag of goals.
Jeremy McGovern ($10,510) / Alex Witherden ($10,860) are your mid-priced options if you want to go with the trend of defenders against Melbourne. McGovern has come down a little in price so he looks good value with a 79.6 season average after a pair of tons earlier in the season. For more recent form then Alex Witherden hit a 108 last week which is his best showing for a while. Can get piggish when he gets a sniff of cheap possessions in the back half so a good chance to go well again.
PREMIUM PLAYS
Nic Martin ($16,180) / Zach Merrett ($16,710) both look set for massive games as they cash in against the lowly Roos. Hard to see who could run with either of them to stop their influence. Martin has been a revelation this season at half-back with a 111.3 season average and a high of 145 with 7 tons in his 9 games. Merrett dropped below a ton for the first time last week but otherwise his form has been supreme with a 113.4 season average and a 135 high. Both high quality picks on this slate if you can find the right value picks to afford them!
Max Gawn ($17,250) is the highest price on this slate and he could be in for an enormous fill up against Bailey Williams at West Coast. Has a season average of 118.9 and four scores of 130+ this season as the solo ruck for the Dees. It’s very easy to see him going 140+ again here but the only issue is that he will need to get those lofty heights at this big price. Note that Maxy didn’t play against the Eagles last season and only had an 87 against them in 2022 when sharing ruck duties with Luke Jackson.
