We’ve got horrible conditions in Sydney at the moment and the weather further north in Newcastle doesn’t look very promising either. Saturday’s program is expected to be racing in Heavy conditions, so be sure to keep that in mind and play accordingly.

Newcastle Racing Tips: Saturday, May 4th 2024
Race 5: Red Funnel Food Distributors Midway (Bm64) - 1870m (14:35 AEST)
(1) Oakfield Redgum handles these conditions and gets the 2kg claimer aboard. Wide gate could be a positive if the track chops up at Newcastle.
(3) Pure Hydrogen is short here considering he’s a bit of an unknown on wet ground. That said, he’s got quality and is one of the more talented horses in the race. Conditions are a query.
(4) Commander Bell loves the wet ground. Gets a decent barrier draw here and can threaten in the race.
(1) Oakfield Redgum E/W

Race 6: Tooheys New Hcp (C1) - 1300m (15:10 AEST)
(4) Turbulent is the best horse in the race. Went close last time and can improve here 2nd up. Good draw and looks a strong chance.
(6) Rapt has handled the wet so far in her career. Only missed by just over a length last time and can go close again.
(1) Happy Saturday rolls forward in this and is one of the few 4yo’s in the race. Can prove hard to catch at nice odds.
(4) Turbulent E/W

Race 8: Australian Liquor Marketers (Bm64) - 1500m (16:25 AEST)
(6) Parade Ground romped in last start. Can do the same again with a good draw. Looks talented and has the win behind him now.
(4) Movader was odds on last start and missed. Is running well though and only needs to get a position in running from the wide draw to be a big threat here.
(2) Centenario has been gelded and comes over the ditch from New Zealand. These conditions are new for him but he’s a kiwi, he should handle it.
(6) Parade Ground E/W
