2024 AFL Round 4 Preview & Betting Tips
Western Bulldogs vs Geelong
Saturday 8:10pm AEDT, April 6th Adelaide Oval
The Bulldogs have found their feet in recent weeks after stumbling out of the blocks first up against the Dees, winning two on the trot since and building nice momentum into another game on the road.
Fans of the red, white and blue will be quietly confident heading into this despite the Cats undefeated record staring them in the face. As far as markets go, the bookies have them on level pegging at $1.90 each.
Leaning on recent history to try get a gauge on how this unfolds, Geelong have bragging rights in four out of the last handful of encounters and to no one’s surprise the most dominant display coming in their premiership winning year.
Both sides however have experienced a lapse post their flag triumphs and have been hoping to try recapture some of that form that led them to the promise land. For the Chris Scott coached side they’ve showed glimpses of exactly that the past month of footy and present as a scary proposition for any challenger, but the Dogs ability to beat anyone on their day is just as daunting.
The saying tall poppy syndrome might act as a double meaning in the footy world in reference to the dogs who have had their fair share of problems shuffling the magnets to try find the right balance both forward and back.
Trust was thrown behind versatile big man Sam Darcy who delivered in spades in his new role replacing Rory Lobb who has been underwhelming since being traded across to the kennel last year from Fremantle.
Match Prediction: Flip of the coin this one but I think the Cats have hit a good groove of form now and may just keep the ball rolling in the city of churches, we can expect the dogs won’t let them off the leash for long though.

Marcus Bontempelli 25+ disposals – Class always prevails so we can expect the Western Bulldogs captain to bounce back this week after a quiet showing against the Eagles where he stayed in first gear.
Tom Stewart 25+ disposals – Is playing at an All-Australian calibre again that saw him level the intercept marks record in his milestone game a fortnight ago. Plays that mopping up role so well and reads it coming in as good as anyone.
Jeremy Cameron 2+ goals – The smooth moving Cameron slots in as the last multi leg, his selfless play always catches him out, but it was understandable him dishing a couple off in Hawkins 350th last week, there’ll be no such thing this outing.
SGM Odds: $3.50 at BoomBet
