Sha Tin today hosts a fairly interesting 10-race card. Chateauneuf in Race 2 is of particular interest given the quality he has demonstrated in his trials. Keen to see how all my selections go today. Best of luck if you’re following.
Sha Tin Racing Tips: Sunday February 18th
Race 2: Tvb Tung Wah Celebrity Show Hcp (C4) - 1200m (15:30 AEST)
(5) Chateauneuf has blitzed his rivals in trials leading up to this debut. He’s incredibly well-developed and strong for a 3yo which is great to see. Expecting big things here.
(9) Robot Knight gets the claim here and will be better for the experience of his debut race where he finished 4th at huge odds. Maps well./
(4) Copartner Prince gets the best barrier he’s had so far in his short career which is crazy because it’s still wide out in gate 8. Not sure if he can win from there but probably gets his best chance.
(5) Chateauneuf win
$3.80 (2 units)
Race 9: Tvb Miss Hong Kong Pageant Hcp (C3) - 1800m (19:15 AEST)
(3) Woodfire Bro maps well here and has run placings in his last few. Should get leader’s back from the good draw and i’m predicting that’ll be the place to be today on the C+3 Course.
(7) Simply Maverick is ON FIRE. He’s 3 from 4 lately and looking for a hat-trick today. Wide draw won’t do him any favours but he’s right in this.
(4) Simple Hedge will also need to do it the hard way to win this from a wide gate and likely rearward position. Zac Purton knows how to win though.
(3) Woodfire Bro e/w
$5.50/$2.20 (1 unit)
Race 10: Tvb Midlife, Sing & Shine Hcp (C3) - 1650m (19:50 AEST)
(2) Yellowfin can win here. He will lead from a better gate than last time, is already at top weight so remains at 61kg while some of his rivals are up in weight and it’s no secret leaders are typically hugely favoured at Sha Tin on the AWT.
(12) Frantanck is one of those runners who is up in weight but should settle behind Yellowfin again and get another chance to beat him.
(3) Adefill rounds out a fairly straightforward top 3 given he rattled home into 2nd last time from a rearward position. Rarely runs a bad race.
(2) Yellowfin e/w
$5.50/$2.10 (1 unit)
