PGA Tour: Farmers Insurance Open Betting Tips
It was a solid week for BeforeYouBet golf followers at the American Express on the weekend as one of our top picks, Adam Hadwin, finished T6 with place bets saluting at healthy odds. Our top pick, Patrick Cantlay, was in contention until a four over final round saw him drop all the way to T52. We’ll look to find some more winners as we head to San Diego this week.
The Field
In what could be considered the first real star studded field since the Tournament of Champions three weeks ago, the Farmers Insurance boasts some of the top names in golf this week, Headlined by Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay, Collin Morikawa, Tony Finau, Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama and the defending champion, Max Homa.
Other past winners of the Farmers Insurance who will be teeing it up again this week include Luke List, Justin Rose, Jason Day, Brandt Snedeker and Scott Stallings.
The Course
Torrey Pines North, Par 72, 7,258 Yards
Torrey Pines South, Par 72, 7,765 Yards
This year, both the North and South Courses at Torrey Pines will once again serve as hosts for the event. Regarded as one of the top golf courses globally, Torrey Pines holds a special status in the golfing world. During the Thursday and Friday rounds, players will alternate between the two courses, and those who qualify for the cut will vie for victory on the South Course during the final two days.
Originally designed in 1957 by William P. and William F. Bell, both courses have undergone separate renovations in modern times, carried out by renowned designers Rees Jones and Tom Weiskopf. The South Course, where the eventual winner will complete three out of four rounds, poses a challenge in strategic course management, spanning 7,700 yards.
Successful navigation of the South Course demands precision with long irons, especially given the substantial approaches required for many of the par fours. Due to the difficulty of these approaches, leading competitors at Torrey Pines often showcase prowess in scrambling. This week, our focus will be on players with strong long irons and exceptional scrambling abilities.
Betting Tips
Jason Day ($26/$1.86 Top 30)
The Aussie is our top pick this week, coming into the event with some decent form, having racked up finishes of 11th, 1st, 10th and 34th in his last four events. What really sets him apart, however, is his dominant performance at Torrey Pines over the years. He has played the event 14 times in his career, racking up two wins, 10 cuts made and seven finishes in the top 10.
Justin Rose ($61/$2.00 Top 40)
For slightly more value this week I like the look of Englishman Just Rose. Hasnt missed a cut in his last eight tournaments and has great history at Torrey Pines. He has competed in the Farmers Insurance 13 times, making the cut on nine occasions, including one win and seven finishes inside the top 25.
