Flemington will host Saturday Racing in Victoria this week with another big 10 race program on offer. Track conditions should remain a Good 4 and the first race gets underway at 12:15pm (AEDT). We concentrate on the tips and we have one shorty, one each-way selection and one horse at odds that we like this weekend. After a losing day midweek, we are still a couple of units in front this year and we will try and maintain the profit.

Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday, January 20th 2024
Race 1: Howden Australia Guineas Day March 2 - 12:15pm (AEDT)
(6) Beehunter is our tip at good odds here on his preferred Dry track which he will get after the track was downgraded to a Soft 7 at Caulfield last start when he was 7th and poor. He is much better on Good tracks and will start double figure odds. He has won at Flemington before and he likes this distance, and he has raced in much stronger races than this. Cartwright should get a good run in transit from barrier 1 and Beehunter drops another kilo after hi poor run last time. He is currently $3.00 and Place and if he doesn’t run top 3 in this he is in the sack file.
(2) Bermadez I have tipped in his last couple of starts and he has ran good 2nds after coming from the back. He is 100 percent fit now but has only won 1 from 13 on the Good. The current odds of $1.80 looks a bit short.
(1) Suparazi is on the quick back up after winning here last week. He likes Dry tracks and actually drops in weight with Hefel on for the first time. Has won 2 from 4 over the distance and he actually might start favourite in the end.
(6) Beehunter Each-Way
$12.00/$3.00 (1 Unit)
Race 5: Black Caviar Lightning Stakes Day February 17 - 2:30pm (AEDT)
(4) Kin was out lay of the day on December 30 and ran 3rd which was good for our followers but it was a pretty good actually as she was luckless in the run. This time we are backing her for the win as barrier 3 is a better draw than barrier 10 as she had at the tight Valley circuit last run. She will probably get backed in so the current odds of $2.60 is probably the go I reckon. Lane is off but Kah is on and the Cummings trained mare should get te run of the race in around 4th position before she powers home late. The drop back to 1100m suits and she is my best of the day.
(2) Sans Doute was way too good at this track over 1000m last start but barrier 1 up the straight might not be favourable. A Good track is though given that she has won all of her races on Dry ground.
(7) Prairie Flower has the services of Lane so that will be interesting because he was on Kin last time. She likes this distance but it has been 9 months since her last win.
Race 6: VRC Life Member John Dale Mile - 3:05pm (AEDT)
(5) Botany is the Each-Way play and if she doesn’t win for us, it should be close to a money back job if she runs a placing. With recent fitness the mile looks ideal now and with the Good surface and a good barrier in 5, she should get a lovely run. It’s her first try here which is a small query, hence the each-way play but her win at Hillside three runs back with the same jockey on top (Hefel), another big track looks a positive.
(10) Verifier has only won 1 from 12 starts but has placed in some handy races that are no harder than this. He won a jumpout last week and he does race well when fresh.
(1) Zamborghini has to carry 61.5kg with Melham on and has drawn poorly in barrier 11. He is probably the best horse in the race and he was luckless last start when getting trapped wide (3rd). Flemington might be better for him though as The Valley’s straight was too short.
(5) Botany Each-Way
$4.80/$1.95 (1 Unit)
