NBL24 Round 14 Preview & Betting Tips
New Zealand Breakers vs Perth Wildcats
Sunday 2pm AEDT, January 6th, Spark Arena
Arguably the form team of the competition heading into Round 14 are the New Zealand Breakers. They struggled mightily during the early portion of the season, mainly due to injuries to key players, but have found some of their best form in recent weeks and look to be a force to be reckoned with.
The Breakers enter this Sunday contest on a four-game win streak, with three of those wins coming on the road, and the other coming at home against the defending champions in the Kings.
The Breakers are finally healthy and are expected to have a full complement of players to use in Round 14, which is something you could not say about the Breakers for the entire season up until now.
Similarly, the Perth Wildcats had a slow start to their campaign, although their issues were purely form and personnel wise. However, they’ve bounced back strongly since and have won nine of their past 11 outings, which is the best record in the competition over that stretch.
The Wildcats have played three straight games on the road and were unlucky not to be victorious in all three, with their only blemish coming against United where they were defeated in an overtime thriller.
Bryce Cotton continues to dominate after his bizarre slow start to the season, and is putting up unreal numbers that have placed him firmly in the driving seat for yet another MVP.
Match prediction: These clubs have only met once so far this season and that was back in early November when the Wildcats prevailed easily at home via a 94-76 scoreline. In all honesty, there’s zero to take from their last meeting because it was so long ago and both teams have dramatically different looking lineups.
However, I’m absolutely loving the way the Breakers have been playing in recent games with their full lineup in action. They look hungry and determined, and I believe they will be very hard to beat here.
