NBL24 Round 13 Preview & Betting Tips
Tasmania JackJumpers vs New Zealand Breakers
Monday 4pm AEDT, January 1st, MyState Bank Arena
What a cracking contest we have on our hands to get 2024 underway in the NBL. The Tasmania JackJumpers will be keen to make amends for their horrible showing on Christmas Day where they went in as huge favourites at home yet still came away with a loss against the Creek-less Phoenix.
Unusual poor performances have plagued the JackJumpers so far in NBL24, although they still sit pretty in third spot in the standings, such is the closeness of the competition this season.
Meanwhile, the New Zealand Breakers were absolutely decimated by injuries in the first half of the season, but they’re now starting to get healthy and their results have turned around as well. The Breakers enter this Round 13 matchup having won three on the spin and by an average margin of over 13 points.
The Breakers have also shown the ability in recent times to win pretty and ugly. They took down both the Taipans and the Kings when scoring 100+ points on each occasion, but were able to defeat the Bullets on the road in a 81-71 slugfest last start.
Match prediction: These clubs have already met twice this campaign and interestingly it’s been the road team that has come away with a win on both occasions. The Breakers won their first meeting 97-92, but the JackJumpers bounced back with a 97-80 win most recently.
The JackJumpers will start as the heavy favourites in their third meeting with the Breakers due to being the better team overall this season as well as holding home court advantage, however, the near full-strength Breakers are in form and are riding a winning wave. With all of that said, I believe the odds should be a lot closer than they are and am keen to take the Bullets to cover the big spread.
