The Big Bash League will bring in the New Year on Monday night with a blockbuster as two of the top teams in the league in the Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers do battle from the Gabba. We have you covered with a full preview and betting tips for the clash below.
BBL13 Heat vs Sixers Betting Tips
The Gabba, Monday 1st January, 7.15pm
Heat
The Heat sit atop the BBL13 table with four wins and one non result through their opening five fixtures. They were too good for the Sydney Thunder in Brisbane back on Wednesday night, scoring 172 batting first before keeping the Thunder to just 157/9 in reply.
Nathan McSweeney was the pick of the batsmen for the Heat, blasting 73 off just 52 balls coming in at No.3, while hard hitting opener Josh Brown found some form with 39 off 29. With the ball, it was Xavier Barlett who led the way, taking 3/29 off his four overs to take him to 2nd place on the BBL wicket takers list with nine this season.
Predicted Heat XI: Josh Brown, Colin Munro, Nathan McSweeney, Matt Renshaw, Sam Billings, Paul Walter, Xavier Bartlett, Michael Neser, Spencer Johnson, Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Kuhnemann
Sixers
The Sixers find themselves in third place on the BBL13 table through five games, having recorded three wins, one loss and a non result. Their last completed match came back on Boxing Day, when they were defeated by the Melbourne Stars with three balls remaining.
Batting first, the Sixers set a manageable total of 154 on the back of a brilliant innings by James Vince, who scored 83 off just 55 balls. Their bowling line-up nearly got the job done, taking six wickets but ultimately falling just short as the Stars chased the total in the final over.
Predicted Sixers XI: Josh Philippe, James Vince, Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk, Jack Edwards, Joel Davies, Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis
Betting Tips
Brisbane have been the form team of the competition so far this season and should continue on their winning ways at home on Monday night. If this game was in Sydney, I’d have some reservations, but the Heat have shown no signs of being stopped at the Gabba, putting up big scores of 172 and 214 batting first in both of their home games this season.

Like Colin Munro to bounce back on Monday night after missing out in the Heat’s last game. He opened up his account this BBL season with scores of 99 and 46 in the first two games and I think he is value for 20+ on Monday.
Pairing that leg with Xavier Barlett 2+ wickets. The paceman used to be a bit of a one trick pony with the new ball but I think he has added another dimension to his game with the ability to ball at different stages of the game. Value for 2+.
Colin Munro 20+ Runs
Xavier Barlett 2+ Wickets
