NBL24 Round 13 Preview & Betting Tips
Adelaide 36ers vs Perth Wildcats
Thursday 7:30pm AEDT, December 28th, Adelaide Entertainment Centre
The Adelaide 36ers sit bottom of the NBL24 standings but won’t feel hopeless on Thursday night despite welcoming the second placed Perth Wildcats to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. The 36ers have a new coach and new ideas and that finally came to fruition in Round 12 when they were able to knock over the Bullets by seven points to snap a four-game losing run. The 36ers have now won four of their last seven home games which certainly isn’t horrible for a side sitting last on the ladder. Looking to spoil the home party will be the Wildcats who were desperately unlucky to come away with a loss against Melbourne United in Round 12, however they were able to recover with a three-point win against the Snakes a couple of days later. Still, the Wildcats’ road record stands at 3-5 and that opens the door for the 36ers to take a scalp here. With that considered, I don’t mind taking the home team to cover the spread.

Brisbane Bullets vs SE Melbourne Phoenix
Saturday 8pm AEDT, December 30th, Nissan Arena
Fresh from their upset win over the JackJumpers, the South East Melbourne Phoenix will head north to Queensland to take on the Brisbane Bullets in the lone game on Saturday night. The Phoenix’s win over the JackJumpers was a true Christmas miracle as they were given absolutely no chance by most pundits. In more positive news for the Phoenix, star player Mitch Creek is set to return after missing the last couple of games due to injury. Creek will join import Abdel Nader on the court for the first time, and along with Alan Williams and Gary Browne, the Phoenix’s starting lineup is looking scary. The Phoenix will look to build more momentum with a win over the struggling Bullets who have now lost four on the spin, two of those being on their home deck at Nissan Arena. With all of that considered, I’m surprised the Phoenix aren’t the favourites here and am more than happy to have a crack at them at the moneyline.

Illawarra Hawks vs Adelaide 36ers
Sunday 5:30pm AEDT, December 31st, WIN Entertainment Centre
The first game of the double-header on New Year’s Eve pits the Illawarra Hawks against the Adelaide 36ers. The Hawks are surging up the ladder and will fancy their chances of securing another win in this one, particularly on the back of their recent form. They’ve won four of their six games under interim coach Justin Tatum including a 94-90 win against the Kings on Christmas. In contrast, the 36ers have only tasted success once from their last six games and sit firmly on the bottom of the standings. Round 13 has been a tricky one to predict so far, but the Hawks do look to be the side in far superior form in this matchup. I expect them to take care of the 36ers here.
