December 20th 2023, 9:49am, By: Trent Callen

Flemington Racing Tips

All eyes will be on the dash for cash at Flemington for the mid-week meeting down the straight, starting at 3pm local time, where the track is currently rated a Soft 5 with an expectation it’ll hover around that mark throughout. Treat yourself to an early Christmas present by scrolling down below to find our best bets, plucked out across the seven-race card at headquarters on Wednesday afternoon.

Flemington Racing Tips: Wednesday, December 20th 2023

Race 1: Eynesbury Estate Mdn Plate (3:00pm)

(4) Acid Wash recorded the fastest last 200m on debut at Sandown. That form line suggests he’ll take a stack of beating in this affair, with race experience now under his belt reading as an added bonus.

(7) Rewards and More will have to contend with an outside stall but we’ll throw our faith behind Craig Williams on board to negate that and put him in a prominent position to lay down the law late.

(12) Belle Inferno will be blood from the Maher and Eustace stable for the first time on course. It has been a touch soft in the market but don’t let that deter you from a more than capable 3yo Gelding on debut.

(9) Glowlight will show the way as the horse with the most race experience on her side. It’ll certainly aid her cause heading into this after finding one better in near on each of its last 4 starts, finishing amongst the placegetters a trio of times.

(4) Acid Watch

$2.60 (3 units)

Race 2: Wheelhouse Advisory Sprint Hcp (3:30pm)

(6) Celestial Storm is likened to the straight here at Flemington having debuted in similar fashion. The 3yo Bay Filly has shown enough in a recent trial to gain the nod as my on top selection with a market push early in betting helping sway my judgement.

(3) Lazy Susan finds a winnable race on paper by her standards and straps up in this contest with a 2kg claim as a result of apprentice jockey Wiremu Pinn earning the sit. It remains a touch awkwardly drawn but should have clear galloping room to muster speed out wide.

(5) Accending wasted no time in breaking her maiden last start winning just shy of 5 lengths at Traralgon, will have fans based off that effort. No stranger to a soft track but first look at Flemington is the only concern.

(1) Mere Morsel slots in on the fourth line of betting, and equally as my fourth selection in a wide-open race early doors. Its first up record is sound and it will be looking to build on that with Craig Williams in the saddle who’ll bide his time from the back and charge late.

(6) Celestial Storm

$4.80 (2 units)

Race 3: Tick Homes Dash (4:00pm)

(1) Arctic Fairy resumes with a first-up record that’ll attract attention in the 9-horse field. Both its recorded jump outs have been around the Flemington circuit which is a big tick. Happy to side with the M J Ellerton trained mare in this.

(3) Sans Doute is up in the weights big time after rounding out the placegetters in its last crack at the Valley. The Cranbourne trained Mare comes out of the same race as Aminatu where it staved off its late challenge.

(2) Joseylin heads to Flemington with a fitness edge over the majority of her rivals, this is expected to nudge her over the line with the market suggesting a similar narrative may unfold by handing her narrow favouritism.

(4) Aminatu will appreciate the long straight here at headquarters, after a trip around the tight turning Moonee Valley track didn’t go according to plan with a hattrick on the cards, after saluting in its two previous starts. Jockey Blake Shinn is the upside here, a big plus to be piloting the 6yo who’s in need of a slice of luck.

(1) Arctic Fairy

$5.00 (1.5 units)

Race 7: Resimax Group Kensington Stakes (6:00pm)

(5) Rich Fortune has been lightly raced in recent times but from all reports will appreciate the bigger track at Flemington after a strong Sandown trial. Craig Williams takes over in the saddle from Harry Coffey and in the small field we can expect a strong showing.

(2) Malkovich is a bold front running horse who’ll certainly give them something to catch down the straight. Makes the trip down from Sydney with grander plans in mind for this preparation, starting with this winnable race first and foremost.

(3) Najem Suhail enters the fray for the first time since its Oaks sighting, back for a contest at its beloved track and distance. Everything points towards a competitive effort from the low barrier draw where it can look to dictate terms.

(7) Katsu resumes for trainer G M Begg, hoping to add to its already impressive first-up record. Start holds the key for Jordan Childs’ chances in the saddle, with the benefit of a good jump allowing it to sit on speed and try make every post a winner.

(5) Rich Fortune

$5.00/$2.20 (1u e/w)
