Washington Wizards at Orlando Magic
Amway Center, 11:10am AEDT
It was a much improved performance from the Washington Wizards in their win over the Detroit Pistons, although at the end of the day, it was the Pistons. They take their one game winning streak to Orlando now to face the red-hot Orlando Magic, who are the surprise packet of the start of the season. It was another heavy dose of Kyle Kuzma, who is trying to carry the bulk of the offensive load on his shoulders, and doing a pretty good job. Again, I do feel as though the outside shooting of the Wizards is going to ultimately decide the outcome of this match-up, however I do have some significant question marks on the defensive ability of the Wizards. I’m most comfortable with a play on the Orlando team total over 122 in this match-up. Washington play with the second quickest pace of all the teams in the NBA this season, yet have the 3rd worst defensive rating, which I think is a recipe for disaster against this quality Magic outfit.

Philadelphia 76ers at New Orleans Pelicans
Smoothie King Centre, 12:10pm AEDT
To be able to give yourself a chance against a team like the Philadelphia 76ers, a team needs the ability to be able to protect the paint, but more importantly, throw different strong defensive looks at Joel Embiid. He is arguably the most dominant player in the NBA, however I do feel as though the Pelicans do have the height that gives them a chance of quelling the influence of Embiid, and Zion Williamson and Jonas Valanciunas are a great start to that process. I do feel as though the Pelicans are playing better than the 9-9 record they currently own, and have looked a more cohesive unit at home, where they have a 6-4 record against some competitive opposition. They return home off back to back losses in Utah, both times as a strong favourite, and may welcome back CJ McCollum, who is a game time decision at the time of writing. I think the defensive aspects of the Pelicans match up well to challenge the offensive exploits of the 76ers. This looks to be a solid price for the Pelicans at home, and I wonder if the 76ers lopsided win over the Lakers has been a touch overrated here.

Houston Rockets at Denver Nuggets
Ball Arena, 1:10pm AEDT
It was no Jokic, no Gordon, no Murray, no worries for the Denver Nuggets on their trip to LA. With a heavy does of Reggie Jackson and DeAndre Jordan, both former Clippers themselves, the Nuggets were able to pull off a massive upset the other day, before heading back to Denver to host the Rockets this evening.
At the time of writing, there is still some question marks around a couple of players, namely Jokic and Gordon, however there is a team total market which has caught my eye here. The Rockets are backing up from a 6 point loss against the Mavericks yesterday, with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists from Alperun Sengun keeping them in the contest. They’ll be missing Fred Vanvleet on the quick back-up here in Denver, due to a thumb sprain, and they will also be missing Tate, so the depth will be called up to fill key rotation spots. Travelling to altitude in Denver on the second leg of a back to back is one of the tougher tests in basketball, and with the Rockets shooting 48.8% from the field and 41.4% from long distance, and still only scoring 105 in a home win against the Nuggets recently, the away total of 103.5 looks to be a touch high in this situation.
