NBA Betting Tips: Thursday, November 9th 2023

Washington Wizards at Charlotte Hornets

Spectrum Center, 11am AEDT

The Wizards will be playing their fourth game of their current road trip when they head to Charlotte on Thursday to take on the Hornets. The Wizards are 0-3 this trip and 0-4 on the road for the season, and have given up 121+ points in all four games including 143+ points twice. It’s fair to say they don’t like play away from home and that bodes well for the chances of the Hornets who return home after playing a three-game road trip of their own. The Hornets haven’t exactly set the world on fire either, although they’ve been far more competitive on a consistent basis. As long as the Hornets can perform at a similar level as they have in their past two games, they’ll be coming away with a comfortable win in this matchup.

Charlotte Hornets -2.5

$1.86 (2 Units)

Los Angeles Clippers at Brooklyn Nets

Barclays Center, 11:30am AEDT

You can’t just throw a team of All-Stars together and expect them to win in the NBA, and we saw a prime example of that when the Clippers fell to the Knicks in James Harden’s first game for the club. Despite having four potential hall-of-famers, the Clippers scored just 97 points which is by far their lowest total of the season to date. The Clippers remain on the road when they take on Nets in Brooklyn on Thursday and are currently priced as around $1.50 favourites. I just can’t be having the Clippers at that price, especially considering they’re 0-3 in their travels this season. On the flip side, the Nets may only be 3-4, but all four of their losses were by 10 points or less and against quality opposition. So, with all of that considered, $2.50+ for the Nets to win at home seems way over the odds.

Brooklyn Nets to Win

$2.55 (1 Unit)

Cleveland Cavaliers at OKC Thunder

Paycom Center, 12pm AEDT

All the talk has been about Victor Wembanyama early in the season and for good reason. However, there’s another rookie doing unreal things in the Western Conference in the form of Chet Holmgren for the OKC Thunder. Holmgren is another 7-footer with guard-like skills and is already having a huge impact for his ball club. Holmgren has become a major part of the Thunder’s rotation, playing 30+ minutes in each of his last three games. He’s now played 30+ minutes four times overall this season and has scored 16+ points in all four games. His points line is currently set at 15.5 and the current trends say he should eclipse that against the Cavaliers.

Chet Holmgren Over 15.5 Points

$1.93 (1 Unit)

Golden State Warriors at Denver Nuggets

Ball Arena, 2pm AEDT

Two Western Conference heavyweights will lock horns in the late game on Thursday, with the Golden State Warriors travelling to Denver to take on the defending champion Nuggets. The Warriors have improved their fortunes on the road this season, already collecting five wins from six attempts, which is a major turnaround from their 8-33 road record a season ago. Meanwhile, it’s been business as usual for the Nuggets on their home deck as they enter this slate with a perfect 5-0 record. It’s fair to say the Warriors have made some improvements from last season although they’re yet to take a major scalp, with their most high-profile win coming against the Pelicans. They’ll have to prove themselves against better opposition on the road before I can trust them. With that said, I’m more than happy to take the Nuggets to cover the spread, which they’ve done on each of the last five occasions in this matchup.

Denver Nuggets -3.5

$1.90 (2 Units)
