NBL24 Round 6 Preview & Betting Tips
Melbourne United vs Perth Wildcats
Monday 7:30pm AEDT, November 6th, John Cain Arena
Absolutely flying heading into Round 6 are Melbourne United. They’ve lost only once from nine games and are riding a six-game win streak, which makes them clearly the form side in the competition.
Even more impressive is the fact that all of United’s eight wins have been by margins of 7+ points, and four of them have been by double-figure margins. The only game they’ve lost this season was in Round 2 against the JackJumpers where they actually led by a dozen points with only four minutes to play.
In more positive news, veteran point guard Matthew Dellavedova is set to return to the rotation on Monday night after missing a couple of weeks due to concussion. United are now at full strength and that’s a scary proposition for the other nine clubs in the competition.
In contrast, the Perth Wildcats have had a tough time early doors in NBL24. They began OK with two wins from three games, but then suffered a four-game losing streak which they were finally able to break last outing against the 36ers.
Not only did the Wildcats get back onto the winners list last start, but superstar Bryce Cotton also found his stroke. He poured in a season-high 29 points and nailed six triples for good measure.
Still, the Wildcats have a long way to go before they can be trusted. They’ve had one of the kindest schedules to start the season with five of their first eight games played at home, but things are about to get a whole lot tougher.
Match prediction: It’s great for the competition when the Wildcats are up and running, although I’m not quite sold on their turnaround just yet. They’re still 0-3 on the road this season and all three of those losses were by 11+ points. On the other hand, United have won six in a row by 7+ points including three in a row at home by 9+ points.
It’s fair to say all the key statistics lead to Melbourne United defeating the Perth Wildcats by a healthy margin on Monday night, and I’ll be backing them in to do just that for a couple of units to close out the round.
