Ladbrokes Park (Sandown) will once again headline midweek racing in Victoria with its Hillside circuit hosting an eight-race card on Wednesday. The weather has been quite dry this week so a Good track should be on the cards. Race 1 commences at 1pm over 1300m!
Brendan Bunworth provides his best racing tips for Sandown below, and remember to head over to our Racing Tips page for more best bets from around the country.
Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, August 30th 2023
Race 2: Ladbrokes Communities Handicap - 1:35pm (AEST)
(2) Bond Street Beau was a lot better last start with Ben Allen on board and he can repeat his good effort of 3rd at The Valley last start and feature in this event. He has had 3 starts from a spell and he should now be at 100 percent fitness over the staying trip. He will look to position up midfield and be strong to the line.
(3) Eco Warrior is on the quick back up but was only beaten 2.25L last start when 8th at Lakeside and he did seem t be staying the trip.
(1) Wanjiru is as tough as they come and look gone with 200m to go at Lakeside last week but fought on strong to score. Has been doing a lot of racing of late but is rock hard fit.
(4) Jukila will likely settle on pace in this and if they go slow out on front can sneak a placing.
(2) Bond Street Beau - WIN
$3.50 (2 Units)
Race 4: Ladbrokes Odds Surge Handicap - 2:45pm (AEST)
(5) Our Red Morning has been freshened after Mornington and Caulfield wins and is going to be very hard to beat in this one. The Greg Eurell mare has a strong finish on her and the Hillside track should suit her style of racing. She won a Cranbourne jumpout last week and she is the one to beat here.
(7) Girl has drawn well in barrier 2 and she has won over this distance previously. Jy McNeil remains on and he has won on her before.
(8) Refreshing probably wants a little rain on Tuesday and is a chance if jumps better this time.
(4) Fiasco Tess will set a good tempo early but that may play into the hands of Our Red Morning. Place chance though.
(5) Our Red Morning - WIN
$1.70 (4 Units)
Race 5: Ladbrokes Live Betting Handicap - 3:20pm (AEST)
(4) Tarzi Calling needed the run at Lakeside 2 weeks ago when a fair effort when 7th and at nice odds I reckon he is ready to strike here. He has Ollie on again and from barrier 1 he will get back before running on at the end. He hasn’t won in 10 months and hasn’t placed in quite a while either but he has been working into his races and finishing off well. On a bigger spacious track, he may enjoy the long Hillside straight.
(2) Baroque Road won well at Geelong last start and has drawn well here (3). He has won over the distance before and is in a leading stable.
(5) Struck Gold is the likely favourite and was unlucky not to win at Seymour last time when $2.40 top pick. Before that he was a comfortable 4L Echuca winner. Up in class but should do well.
(6) From Pantherland is very fit and probably needs to show something here. Can place at odds.
(4) Tarzi Calling - WIN
$10 (1 Unit)
Race 8: Ladbroke It Handicap - 5:05pm (AEST)
(8) Shock Em’ Ova has drawn wide in 12 but that might suit him later in the day and he has the experience of Williams in the saddle. It won’t worry him if it rains on Tuesday night as his best form is on the Soft. He won a jumpout at Cranbourne 2 weeks ago and he is ready to show his best first up.
(6) No Surrender has drawn well in 2 and is fitter now. He likes the distance and he has won 2 jumpouts in recent times.
(4) Maktoob won a Flemington jumpout 10 days ago and is 1 from 1 over this distance.
(1) He’s The Real Deal will be up on the pace and can place at odds if the tempo is slow.
(8) Shock Em’ Ova - WIN
$4.60 (2 Units)
