AFL Round 22 Preview & Betting Tips
West Coast vs Fremantle
Saturday 8:100pm AEST, August 12th, Optus Stadium
Usually there are bigger stakes at hand for the Western Derby, but that doesn’t mean tensions won’t be high for this one. West Coast will take on crosstown rivals Fremantle in a match that grants bragging rights in a football mad state.
After what’s been a season to forget, West Coast actually come into this Round 22 fixture having played some solid footy over the past two weeks. They’ve netted themselves a win against North Melbourne and a one-point loss against Essendon over the past two rounds.
Currently sitting in last spot but only percentage worse than North Melbourne in 17th, it was somewhat bizarre to see the Eagles seemingly shooting for victory in their recent match against the Bombers, more so considering a win would see them almost certainly give up the #1 pick in the upcoming draft.
Meanwhile, Fremantle have also been in some of their better form for the season whilst they too have nothing of value to shoot for. Their finals aspirations were dashed weeks ago, although they still managed to cause one of the upsets of the year a fortnight ago when they downed Geelong at the Cattery.
Recent results and current ladder positions make for an intriguing Round 22 Derby between these sides, and the type of approach each side takes to this encounter remains to be seen.
What we can take from the past couple of weeks is that both teams are keen to play competitive football to see the season out.
All things considered, this is the probably the hardest match of the round and potentially season to make a verdict on. However, if you’re keen to make a play in this one, then it seems somewhat likely the Dockers will salute in a competitive match.

Fremantle to Win – While the Eagles can certainly keep this one close, I doubt they actually want to win and cough up the #1 pick.
Luke Jackson 20+ Disposals – He was superb last weekend when ranked the highest player on the ground. He’ll get the better of Bailey Williams in their matchup and should be able to get to 20 touches.
Noah Long 1+ Goals – This kid is one of the shining lights for the Eagles. He’s a real tryer and has some talent to go with it. He adds some great value to our multi.
