AFL Round 20 Preview & Betting Tips
Western Bulldogs vs GWS
Saturday 1:45pm AEST, July 29th, Mars Stadium
A sneaky good match in Round 22 is the Western Bulldogs vs GWS Giants at Mars Stadium on Saturday. These teams truly hate each other and that always makes for an entertaining watch.
After getting jumped early, the Western Bulldogs were able to gather momentum against the Bombers last weekend and eventually come away with a comfortable win. It was a necessary result for the club after suffering back-to-back close losses against Collingwood and Sydney.
Most pleasing from their win against the Bombers was their defence being able to restrict them to just 49 points. It was their second stingiest game of the season behind only their 85-40 win over Adelaide in Round 10.
GWS have found their best form at the perfect time and enter Round 20 on a six-match win streak. In a battle of the expansion clubs last weekend, the Giants were far too strong for the Suns in a 103-63 win.
The Orange Tsunami is certainly back in full force and they’re proving extremely hard to hold out when they get numbers forward of the ball. They’ve now scored 100+ points in four of their last seven matches and are finding multiple avenues to get the ball between the big sticks.
Considering how electric the Giants have been since the middle part of the season, I’m surprised to see them listed as near $3 underdogs on Saturday. Yes, the Bulldogs are a quality outfit and have home ground advantage on their side, but I still feel the odds don’t do the Giants form justice.
The Giants are more than capable of winning on the road, in fact, they’ve won five of their last six matches as the away side. I expect them to be right in this match against the Bulldogs and to at least cover the 14.5-point handicap.

Toby Greene 2+ Goals – This is a big game and he’s a big game player. He’s kicked multiple goals in 14/16 of his matches this season.
Bailey Dale 25+ Disposals – Had a slow start to the season but has racked up 25+ touches in eight of his last 10 games. Ed Richards missing this one also helps his chances.
Lachie Whitfield 25+ Disposals – He’s had 25+ disposals in each of his last two and seven of his last 10 outings. He’s built into the season nicely and should have another big game here.
