NBA Finals Betting Tips: Game 1
Miami Heat at Denver Nuggets
Ball Arena, Friday 10:30am AEST
If you picked this Finals matchup before the playoffs began you would be a very happy and very rich man/woman.
The Denver Nuggets perhaps aren’t a total surprise packet considering they were the #1 seed in the West, but they certainly had their doubters considering they’d never made it to the Finals in franchise history.
However, the Miami Heat are one of the great underdog stories in NBA history, making it to the Finals as the #8 seed. They barely made it out of the Play-In Tournament, so to make it all the way to the Finals is a massive achievement.
The Heat will be out to defy the odds again in the Finals but this series feels a little different to their previous ones.
The Nuggets have had a week’s more rest to both recover and scout the Heat, which gives them a massive advantage in Game 1.
On top of that, they have home court on their side on Friday, and the Nuggets are one of the best performing teams on their home deck in the NBA. In fact, they are yet to suffer defeat in front of their home fans in these playoffs.
And while I appreciate the grit and grind the Heat have showed to make it to this point, I can’t see them getting near the Nuggets in Game 1 under these circumstances. I expect this to be a blowout win to the favourites to begin the series.

Jamal Murray 20+ Points – Has stepped it up in a big way in the playoffs as he always does. Loves playing at home in front of the fans and should score 20 points without any trouble.
Michael Porter Jr. 15+ Points – A bit streaky but that’s why he’s value here. Once he gets on a roll he’s one of the best shooters in the league.
Caleb Martin 6+ Rebounds – Was a monster in the ECF and should’ve been named MVP of the series. He’s been all over the glass in recent games.
