The 2022-23 Big Bash League season continues on Boxing Day with a fantastic double-header. The 2nd game of the night sees the Perth Scorchers squaring off against the Adelaide Strikers and as always, we have you covered with a full preview and betting tips for the clash below.
BBL12 Scorchers vs Strikers Betting Tips
Optus Stadium, Monday 26th December, 9.15pm
Perth Scorchers
Predicted XI: Adam Lyth, Faf du Plessis, Nick Hobson, Josh Inglis, Ashton Turner, Aaron Hardie, Ashton Agar, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Peter Hatzoglou
The Scorchers bounced back from a loss to the Hurricanes on Monday night with an impressive win over the Stars in their last game. Batting was a concern for the Scorchers with the loss of Mitch Marsh and Phil Salt to season long injuries, but they piled on 229 batting first against the Stars led by great knocks from de Plessis, Hobson and Inglis.
After a bit of a shaky start to the season, the Scorchers are looking like the powerhouse we’ve come to expect now and with a three game home stand coming up, it’s likely we’ll see them start to assert some dominance.
Adelaide Strikers
Predicted XI: Jake Weatherald, Matt Short, Chris Lynn, Adam Hose, Colin de Grandhomme, Thomas Kelly, Harry Nielson, Rashid Khan, Wes Agar, Henry Thornton, Peter Siddle
The Strikers kicked off their season with three straight wins including that dominant victory over the Thunder. They suffered their first loss of the season by 6 runs to the Heat at the Gabba on Friday night, but they still sit atop the table due to the outstanding net run rate of +2.259.
Bowling is the strength of the Strikers, led by superstar spinner Rashid Khan, but with new import Chris Lynn finding some form this year, the Strikers batting line-up is looking damaging, particularly at home.
Match Prediction
Tough to look past the Scorchers at home here. They have lost just one of their last nine games at home and seem to have found a good patch of form early in the season here. Another key for the Scorchers is that unlike previous years, their fast bowling contingent isn’t affected by international duty.
I think the Scorchers will be too strong here, back them to win at home at 1.73.

Josh Inglis has opened the batting for the Scorchers in the past but I like him in this new anchor role at No.4. He has compiled 149 runs at an average of 49.67 through his three games this season. Like the odds of him to score 20+.
The two wicket takers who I like on Monday night are Khan and Tye. Andrew Tye has taken five wickets in his three games while Khan has claimed 4, bowling in just three of the Strikers games so far.
Josh Inglis 20+ Runs
Rashid Khan 1+ Wicket
Andrew Tye 1+ Wicket
