The Hong Kong season continues in full force on Wednesday night with another stacked 9-race Happy Valley meeting. The final race on the card is a mouth-watering event and I can’t wait to see how it unfolds.
Blake Lalor brings you his preview and Happy Valley racing tips for Wednesday night. Check out his best bets of the card below!
Happy Valley Racing Tips: Wednesday 21st December
Race 2
(3) Five G Patch was unlucky not to finish closer and potentially win his last race behind Woodfire Bro. Plenty of runners come out of that race into this one and Five G Patch looked to have them covered with more luck last time. Extra distance should suit and I’m hoping the market misses this horse slightly so we can have a bit of a go on him.
(4) Hit The Shot is the obvious horse to beat for my top pick but I think Hit The Shot is under-priced given Five G Patch was shorter the last time they met and was unlucky not to finish ahead.
(2) Savvy Kingman is one at a big price so may be an unlikely winner but is a horse that can rarely be left out of considerations. He’s far better than his recent runs may suggest and could dictate terms in the lead or settle on speed from a better draw tonight.
(3) Five G Patch Win
$3.70 (2 Units)
Race 7
(5) Howdeepisyourlove was met with strong support on debut and ran well finishing 3rd. He was supported again 2nd up but had absolutely nowhere to go in the straight and ended up finishing a luckless 9th. He’s drawn gate 1 this time and gets Zac Purton aboard so should have his best opportunity to win now 3rd up.
(11) Sixth Generation is yet to win a race but has looked more and more likely to get that first win in recent attempts. Had a wide barrier against him last time and draws slightly more favourably this time.
(8) All Is Good is one of the leaders in the race and on a firm track may be able to squeeze into the finish. There are better horses in this race but the speedmap plays a huge role in determining the outcome of races so don’t forget about this horse.
(5) Howdeepisyourlove Win
$3.20 (3 Units)
Race 8
(2) Nicconi County finished just about level with Yo Beauty last time and Beauty Tycoon won the race. That horse has won again since and Nicconi County gets a far better setup today to be able to win from gate 4 where he can settle closer in the run and finish off like he did last time.
(1) Star Brite brings good form and a good draw into this race with Vincent Ho booked for the ride. He’s a consistent horse when in form and should continue to demonstrate that tonight.
(5) Yo Beauty must contend with the wide barrier this time but has good early speed and can make his own luck up front if given the opportunity. A firm track will be in his favour for that reason and he may just be able to pinch the race if a few other leaders opt out of the speed battle.
(2) Nicconi County Each-Way
$5/$2.10 (1 Unit)
Race 9
(9) Lucky Archangel may just be drawn to perfection here to win this race. He possesses enough early speed to be able to settle on the back of the leading division and with only 54.5kg may be able to beat a few horses who on an even playing field should have him covered. He’s a great e/w price to take the chance.
(11) Nordic Dragon could be anything after the performance he produced on debut. He’ll probably set himself a task from gate 8 with so much speed in the race as he’s likely to settle in the 2nd half of the field. He’s too short with that setup on the speedmap but is still a main chance.
(2) Super Fortune could go handlebars down here and lead for fun. If that happens, he may be able to pinch a break on the turn and prove very difficult to run down. The risk is that he doesn’t get to the lead with so much pace on paper but he could be worth the chance at the price.
(9) Lucky Archangel Each-Way
$16/$3.90 (1 Unit)
