NBA Betting Tips: Wednesday, 7th December
Los Angeles Lakers at Cleveland Cavaliers
Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, 11:30am AEDT
The juiciest matchup of the slate tips off at 11:30am (AEDT), with the Cavaliers playing hosts to LeBron James and the Lakers. The Cavs are the clear favourites ($1.54 vs $2.49) at the time of writing.
After a nightmare start to their campaign, the Lakers look to be finally hitting their straps and performing at an acceptable level. They enter this game having won eight of their last 10 games and are now only two games under 500.
Meanwhile, the Cavs are coming off a poor loss against the Knicks where they scored a season-low 81 points. It was just the third time they’ve failed to reach triple-figures this campaign.
The Cavs will be pleased to be returning to Cleveland after playing four of their last six games on the road. They’ve won each of their last five at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and are now a league-best 10-1 in front of their home fans.
The Lakers still have to prove themselves against the better teams in the league before I believe they’ve actually turned the corner. They’re still only 4-6 on the road this season and simply don’t deserve to be as competitive in the head-to-head and spread markets against the best home team in the competition this season in the Cavs.

Detroit Pistons at Miami Heat
FTX Arena, 11:30am AEDT
The Pistons will travel to FTX Arena in Miami to take on the Heat in a game that won’t break any viewership records. The home side are the overwhelming favourites to get back onto the winners list ($1.25 vs $4).
The Pistons just wrapped up a four-game homestand where they could only muster one win. However, they were competitive for the most part and have only lost by more than 10 points once in their last 13 outings.
In contrast, the Heat have returned home after a four-game road trip where they finished with a 2-2 split. They got a look at a Morant-less Grizzlies on Tuesday but weren’t able to capitalise as they went down by eight points. The Heat have now lost six of their last 10 games and have failed to find any sort of rhythm or momentum through the first quarter of the season.
The rebuilding Pistons have only saluted in two of their 13 road games to date; however, the line has been set at a whopping 8.5 on Wednesday, which is a number the Pistons have managed to cover in nine of their last 11 games. They now catch the Heat who are on the second game of a back-to-back, and they should be able to push them all the way on current form.

Dallas Mavericks at Denver Nuggets
Ball Arena, 2pm AEDT
The final game of the day will be at altitude in Denver when the Nuggets host the Mavericks at 2pm (AEDT). The Nuggets are currently listed as $1.50 favourites against the Mavericks ($2.60) who will be on the second leg of a back-to-back.
The Mavs would be thoroughly pleased with their performance against the Suns on Tuesday whom they defeated 130-111. Luka Doncic inflicted more hurt on Devin Booker and co. with a 33/6/8 line in just three quarters.
Despite their win over Phoenix, it’s been a largely disappointing start to the season for Dallas who are currently just one game above 500.
The Nuggets continue to fly under the radar with their 14-9 record currently placing them fourth in the Western Conference. Nikola Jokic is putting up MVP type numbers once again, but you rarely hear of it due to how accustomed we’ve all become of his terrific play.
Historically, playing in Denver on the second leg of a back-to-back has been one of the toughest tasks in the NBA. Playing at high altitude when you’re already fatigued is tough for even the fittest plays in the association. On top of that, the Mavs have a 2-8 record on the road this season, which ranks them dead last in the West. This should lead to a relatively easy win for the home side.
Denver Nuggets -4.5
