EPL 2022-23: Matchday 15 Preview & Betting Tips

Manchester City vs Fulham

Etihad Stadium, Sunday 6th November, 2:00am AEDT

A 1-0 win over Leicester keeps the defending champions within two points of league leaders Arsenal. Manchester City host seventh placed Fulham who have been one of the biggest surprises this season, in an impressive return to the Premier League after earning promotion back into the Premier League. Fulham picked up a 0-0 draw against Everton last week, which extended their unbeaten streak to four games.

Manchester City once again are the best attacking side in the league, scoring 37 goals through twelve games this season, 7 more than any other team. Manchester City also possess the equal 2nd ranked defence in the Premier League, having conceded only 11 goals this season. For comparison on the gap between these two sides, Fulham have conceded 22 goals.

City simply circle this fixture as a win as soon as it comes up on the schedule. The reigning champs hold an 11-2-0 record against Fulham since 2010. City have won seven of their last eight games against Fulham by two or more goals. Despite Fulham’s positive start to this season, there’s a massive gap in quality between these two teams. City will continue to keep the pressure on Arsenal at the top of the league and will pick up a convincing win.

Chelsea vs Arsenal

Stamford Bridge, Sunday 6th November, 11:00pm AEDT

The headline fixture of Matchday 15 takes place on Sunday evening when Chelsea host Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal are in red hot form with a 10-0-1 record that sees Mikel Arteta’s side at the top of the Premier League table. The Gunners were at their best last week in a 5-0 victory over Nottingham Forest. The same could not be said for Chelsea, who were beaten 4-1 by Brighton. Chelsea are now winless from their last three games and have fallen to sixth on the Premier League table.

Arsenal’s complete control of the game against Forest was impressive, with the Gunners having 70% possession and recording 24 shots on goal.

Arsenal are getting the job done at both ends of the pitch, ranking as the second best attacking side in the league (30 goals) and the equal second best defence in the Premier League (11 goals conceded). Chelsea haven’t had their typical production in midfield this season, impacted heavily by N’golo Kante’s absence through injury. If Chelsea are going to win this game, they’re going to need to dominate through the middle of the ground.

Chelsea have struggled in attack this season, and if Arsenal score early it’s going to be a long way back for Graham Potter’s men. Week after week the Gunners continue to prove they are the real deal, and they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. This matchup pits two sides with drastically different form lines against each other, with the Gunners also having the wood over Chelsea in recent times. Arsenal have won three of their last four games against Chelsea in the Premier League, will make it four out of five against an out of form Chelsea on Sunday.

Tottenham vs Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Monday 7th November, 3:30am AEDT

Matchday 15 concludes with the biggest game of the weekend, as Liverpool head to London to take on Tottenham. Liverpool’s horror season continues to get worse, after a 2-1 loss to fifteenth placed Leeds, courtesy of an 89th minute winner from Crysencio Summerville. A stunning second half from Tottenham saw them rally from 0-2 down, to a 3-2 win against Brentford on Matchday 14.

Tottenham are the third most prolific attacking team in the league this season, scoring 26 goals through 12 games. Liverpool’s defence is ranked in the middle of the league, a significant drop off from the past few seasons with their inability to defend the wings a major concern. Taking on Tottenham who are 5-0-1 at home this season, expect Spurs to look to target Trent Alexander-Arnold to generate goal scoring opportunities.

Tottenham will be full of confidence after their come from behind victory last week and have put together consistent football across the first three months of the season. Liverpool have an abundance of problems at the moment, and they can’t get any momentum going this season. Harry Kane is sitting second in the golden boot race with 10 goals and is going to be a nightmare matchup for the Reds to contain. There’s plenty to trust in this Spurs side that continues to get the job done this season.

More EPL Matchday 15 Tips

Leeds vs Bournemouth (Sunday 2am AEDT)

Leeds put an end to their losing streak in style last weekend with a 2-1 win away at Anfield. They were eight league matches without a win prior to that game, so they’ll be hoping that result will help kickstart their season. Meanwhile, the Cherries find themselves on a three-game losing streak after losing 3-2 against Tottenham last start. Alarmingly, this is already their second such losing streak this season and it’s one that I expect to extend to four on Sunday.

Nottingham vs Brentford (Sunday 2am AEDT)

Any sort of momentum Forest were building was lost in last weekend’s effort against the Gunners where they lost 5-0. It was a bitterly disappointing performance after beating Liverpool the week prior. Similarly, Brentford have dished up some ordinary performances of late and only have three wins to their name this season. This is a tough fixture to predict but there is some value in the Both Teams to Score market when you consider how poor both of these sides have been defensively this campaign.

Wolves vs Brighton (Sunday 2am AEDT)

The Wolves found the back of the net for just the sixth time for the season against the Bees last weekend, although it wasn’t enough for the win, and they had to settle for a share of the points. Lack of firepower is a real concern for the Wolves at the moment and is an area they’ll surely look to address in the January transfer window. On Current form, it’s hard to see them competing with a genuinely strong side like Brighton who are coming off a fantastic win over Chelsea.

Brighton H2H ($2.20 at Ladbrokes)

Everton vs Leicester (Sunday 11pm AEDT)

Everton have been a tough team to get a read on this season with the mixed performances they’ve dished up. They enter this weekend off a lacklustre 0-0 draw against Fulham, which came after arguably their best performance of the season when beating Palace 3-0. Still, they’re solid value to win against a Foxes outfit that has avoided defeat on the road only once this season.

Aston Villa vs Manchester United (Monday 1am AEDT)

Aston Villa’s 4-0 win against Brentford after Sacking Stevie G looks like nothing other than a flash in the pan. They quickly reverted to old ways with a 4-0 loss away at Newcastle last time out. They now welcome an in-form Manchester United (7 wins in their last 10) to Villa Park on Monday morning. Simply put, United should be winning this comfortably.

Southampton vs Newcastle (Monday 1am AEDT)

Newcastle head to St. Mary’s in fantastic form having picked up 16 of a possible 18 points from their last six games. Along with Arsenal, the Magpies have a league-best one loss this season. They’ll come into this fixture full of confidence and should be able to negotiate a win against the Saints who have won only three times this campaign.

Newcastle H2H ($1.91 at Ladbrokes)

West Ham vs Crystal Palace (Monday 1am AEDT)

Both West Ham and Crystal Palace would be pleased with their form over the past five or six games, which sets up a juicy encounter on Monday morning. Interestingly, there have been 14 goals scored in their last three meetings and each of them have gone over the 2.5 goal mark. With that said, backing the overs looks to be the play here.
