Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday 10th September

September 8th 2022, 4:57pm, By: Billy Bestford

Racing in Sydney this Saturday heads back to Rosehill with ten cracking races on the program. The program is highlighted with The Run To The Rose as we see the return of Golden Slipper winner Fireburn. The form of last season’s two year olds has left plenty to be desired - who will announce themselves as the gun 3 year old of this crop? The Theo Marks and Sheraco Stakes are the two other key races in the quaddie.

The track is currently rated a soft 5 and the rain has stayed away for the majority of this week. With that being said there is a 6-10mm forecast for Friday and we might see a downgrade or two come the beginning of the first race.

As always, Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the program and brings you his free horse racing tips, including best bets and race previews.

Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday 10th September

Race 4

From a map perspective, (5) Hameron looks an easy bet to have here. From the inside barrier he should be able to position up near the speed in a race which doesn’t have too much obvious speed on paper. Comes into this off a strong first up win and expect there is plenty of improvement to come out of that performance. He’s had five starts for three wins and two 2nds and will not mind if the rain comes. Looks to get every chance here.

(12) Pink Ivory will get back and run on but looks very well suited rising to 1800m 2nd up. She was well-fancied in some top-line staying races towards the end of last prep and the first up run was an encouraging return. Maybe needs one more run?

(7) Kalino has a race fitness edge on many of these and will have plenty of fans with McDonald in the saddle. Gets out to this trip for the first time but has been in super consistent form this prep and wouldn’t shock to see him in the finish.

(6) Head Of State looks a completely different horse to the one that won the Gloaming but perhaps 3rd up now he is ready? His only run at this trip was the win in the Gloaming and you could have something small on considering his price.

(9) Bazooka has been racing very well this prep and looks to have turned a corner. Dropping in the weights off his tough 2nd last start will improve his chances.

(5) Hameron

$2.50  (3 units)

Race 6

This is not easy but I think we can have a couple of bets in the race with a decent chance at returning a win. Waller has a very strong hand as usual and I’ll be siding with two of his here.

(12) Conqueror has had plenty of wraps on him after winning one of the better form maidens you will find. He ran 2nd first up when wide over 1400m and is sure to take a stack of improvement out of that. He draws very well for Pike and I just think he has a bit of X factor about him. Could just blow them away and go on to win some serious races.

(4) Basquiat is the one in double figures that I want to have something on. Was a good return from him and he is very well suited rising to 1400m now. Was less than a length off winning the JJ Atkins last prep so he is clearly good enough. Jmac sticks for the ride and the blinkers go on.

(11) Zou Tiger was super impressive breaking his maiden first up at midweek company. He looks a horse with a stack of progression and should be able to roll forward from the wide draw and give himself every chance.

(9) Flag Of Honour has done nothing wrong to date, winning two from two. Tackles this race first up and gets a gun draw for the in-form Collett on board.

(10) Osipenko started even money against Kibou last time we say him. Plenty of upside with him and looks another winning chance.

Value: (4) Basquiat - $13  (0.5 unit)

(12) Conqueror

$5.50  (1 unit)

Race 8

(3) Ellsberg is a very likable horse, especially when fresh. Puts himself up in the lead, handles all conditions and is unbeaten from three first up runs. If the rain comes I expect his chances to increase and I dare say he starts favourite. Trials leading in have been very good and in a big field he will be up on speed away from all the trouble. Loves Rosehill!

If the track is drying out by this stage I think (10) Jamaea can win. She is a ripper of a horse and it was a really good return run behind Zapateo last time out. She will get back and generally needs luck but if the gaps open up I expect she will be very strong late.

(7) Rustic Steel is a ripper, winning seven from 13 career starts. He has trialled well for his return and he deserves a crack in this sort of grade. Get the feeling he is ready to take the next step now.

(1 Kementari will be praying the heavens open up and if they do you always have to give him a chance. Is the class runner of the field and goes well fresh.

(4) Mr Mozart next best but looks skinny enough in the market.

Also Backing: (10) Jamaea - $8.50  (0.5 units)

(3) Ellsberg

$3.80  (1.5 units)

Race 9

This is a cracking race!

I’m siding with (6) Espiona who looked as if she could be the next Winx at one stage early on in her career. It’s never easy to live up to those expectations and she still ran very well last prep without winning. First up with Jmac jumping straight on I am keen to be with her. She draws for a lovely trail in running and has the turn of foot to explode over them late.

Up to 1200m suits for (2) Bella Nipotina who was a very good winner fresh off the back of some seriously good trials. Rain won’t hurt her chances but the barrier and map might?

(10) Shades Of Rose is a beauty and has turned into the punters pal of late. Has won her last three starts by a combined 11.5L and now deserves her crack at this sort of grade. She draws wide and King takes over after Jmac has ridden the last few starts. She is good enough to win but has a few things against in thai quality of field.

(9) It’s Me was back to her best up in QLD last start and she could possibly go on with it now. Out to 1200m will suit her now.

(12) Sky Command is unbeaten from two 2nd up runs and could be the blowout chance.

(6) Espiona

$3.40  (1.5 units)

Race 10

I think there was plenty to like about the fresh win of (16) Waterford. Ran on from the back over 1500m which is never easy to do off a spell. Ideally would have liked to see them step up in trip but he will still be open to improvement with fitness in his legs. His two runs since coming to Aus have been very impressive and just from a price perspective I want to have something on him over the stablemate.

(17) Arnold is that stablemate and he looks a very promising horse in his own right. The last two wins have been super, charging home from the back to win with his ears pricked. McDonald sticks and stepping up to 1500m looks ideal.

(15) Gracilistyla could be the one at odds to knock off the two favourites. 3rd up now off the back of two good runs should see him set to peak now.

(12) El Rocko is flying this prep and if we get into the heavy range he has to come into the numbers. The form around him down in Melbourne is very good and expect he is charging down the outside late on.

(10) Tamerlane next best.

(16) Waterford

$4.60  (1 unit)
