Saturday racing in Sydney heads to Rosehill with the running of the Rosebud highlighting the day’s action. There looks to be some exciting horses going around here and confident that we can land a few good bets.
The track is currently rated a soft 5 but there is a bit of rain forecast in the days leading in. With that in mind I expect we see a couple of downgrades and could be on the better side of a heavy come race time.
As always, Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the program and brings you his free horse racing tips, including best bets and race previews.
Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday August 13th
Race 4
(5) Katalin resumes and tackles some strong races last prep, finishing 3rd behind In The Boat at The Valley last time we saw her. She flies fresh, unbeaten from three first up runs and getting Back to the Rosehill 1200m will suit where she has a great record. Jmac rides from a nice draw and should see her able to stalk the speed and be too strong for them late. As long as we aren't on a heavy I am pretty keen on her.
(6) Conscript looks a good winning chance kept on the fresh side since his dominant win five weeks ago. In a small field with a race lacking a whole lot of speed I expect they use the apprentice claim and fire straight to the lead. From there he will be extremely tough to run down. With a bit of rain around that probably helps his chances as well.
I think (8) Dalchini could be the one closing off from the back at a big price. Will be fitter with the fresh run under the belt and only career win has come when 2nd up.
(1) Munitions resumes for the new stable and has always shown a bit of ability. Probably past his best now but goes well fresh and a change of scenery might help.
(5) Katalin

Race 5
Looking forward to seeing (5) Frumos step out in search of a fourth straight win to keep her picket fence going. Her three wins to date have been super impressive and she was a dominant winner in this grade a few weeks ago. Gets up a little in the weights but she’s got plenty of upside and this race is full of horses who have probably reached their ceiling.
Any rain around will suit (2) Tawfiq Lass who has been racing in career best form this prep. Interesting to see Jmac take the ride and from barrier three you expect she sees a nice run throughout.
(8) Riduna will be hard fit 4th up and is yet to miss the quinella this prep. Puts herself up on speed and handles all conditions.
(4) Fearnought next best.
(5) Frumos
$2.00 (5 units)
Race 7
Surely today is the day for (5) Lovely Esteem. Was keen on her 3rd up in Australia and was once again very good when looming like the winner but just peaking on the run. Now 4th up she should be properly ready and will have no excuses from a gun draw. She’s been very good since arriving in Aus and I think Waller has placed her very well here.
(2) Elusive Jewel was the winner of that race LE comes out of and certainly no knock on her. She’s super honest and the wetter the better for her. From a low draw she could settle in a more handy position and might just be too good again.
If the rain misses then (12) Soffika has to come into the numbers. Think she has been looking for this trip and firmer ground might see her improve. She is very lightly raced as a 6yo and I don’t think we have seen the best of her yet.
(13) Monfelicity is probably better suited on a drier track now and looks ready 3rd up. She can run a hole at an EW price.
Value: (12) Soffika - $12 (0.5 units)
(5) Lovely Esteem

Race 8
(1) Sebonack is in for a big 3yo prep I feel and was super in the three runs we saw him as a 2yo. His best performance was on debut beating a very handy field at Caulfield before running out of his skin when 4th in a Blue Diamond. Didn’t handle the heavy in the slipper so really hoping we get a dry track for him here. Trialled up nicely and have to respect the stable keeping him in Sydney.
(3) Spacewalk is another promising colt and resumes today from a low draw with Jmac on. Can land in a nice trailing position and we haven’t seen the best of him yet. Beat Alpha One last prep then nearly won the Kindergarten Stakes.
(5) Kibou has race fitness on side and has returned to racing with very good form. A recent trial was sharp.
(4) Voldemort looks a big price and could be the best roughie.

Race 9
I think (6) Loveplanet is a decent value chance here. Never a hope first up when flipped out the gates and the crawled up front. 2nd up he is always much improved and a drying track could see his best form prove tough to beat.
(4) Marnix is in good form, winning two starts back and then finishing well for 3rd after a decent break between runs. Up to 1400m suits.
(8) Kalino was pretty unlucky last start when finding trouble and should have finished closer. Was a good winner before that and this isn’t too deep of a race. Just against at the price.
(6) Loveplanet
