Geelong vs Richmond Betting Tips
MCG, Saturday 25th June 4:35pm (AEST)
Geelong
Injuries: Jon Ceglar (Foot), Patrick Dangerfield (Calf), Brandan Parfitt (Hand), Sam Simpson (Concussion)
The Cats injury list isn’t too bad at the moment and they could just about be full-strength in couple of weeks’ time with some luck. Patrick Dangerfield should return from a calf this week and recruit Jon Ceglar could be back in the frame as well.
After a shaky period where they lost three out of five matches, Geelong have returned to form over the past month with four wins on the spin. They certainly weren’t at their best on the road against the Eagles last weekend, but they didn’t need to be and did enough to claim their ninth win of the season, which saw them move into the top four. The Cats have a chance to improve further up the ladder of the next four weeks, with all four of their games being played in Victoria.
Richmond
Injuries: Noah Balta (Hamstring), Trent Cotchin (Clavicle), Dustin Martin (Illness), Robbie Tarrant (Hand)
The Tigers only have a couple of injuries at the moment but they’re all to key players. Noah Balta and Trent Cotchin are expected to miss the next 2-4 weeks, while Dustin Martin and Robbie Tarrant will both face fitness tests.
Richmond are playing the best football they’ve played over the last 18 or so months and enter this round having won six of their last seven matches. In fact, they’re unlucky not to be on a seven-match win streak as their only loss during their current run was one where they coughed up a big lead against the Swans. As a result of their fantastic form, the Tigers have jumped up to sixth spot on the ladder with an 8-5 record.
Match Prediction
After a heartbreaking loss to the Tigers in the 2020 Grand Final, the Cats certainly did their homework and made sure they could avenge that defeat in future meetings. In the two matches since the 2020 GF, the Cats have won by 63 and 38 points and both of those were played at the MCG. I’m a firm believer that the Cats patient game style holds up really well against the Tigers kamikaze ball movement and think they’re primed to make it three wins on the spin against one of their biggest rivals.

Brad Close is another favourite of mine to chuck in my SGM’s on a weekly basis as he always seems to be good value. He’s kicked a goal in each of his last four matches and six of his last eight, yet he’s still around the $1.80 mark to kick one this weekend.

Tyson Stengle has been one of the great recruits of the season and is seemingly getting better with every game he plays. Last weekend he chimed in with another three goals, which was the seventh time from his last nine outings that he’s had multiple majors. He’s great value to continue his form against the Tigers.

Mitch Duncan thrives against the Tigers where he uses his running capacity down the wings to get a lot of uncontested marks and disposals. He’s had 135 and 112 fantasy points against them in his last two outings and we need just 90 from him this weekend.
