After a big $12 winner with Dark Shift on Day 2 last night, we're back with a look at Day 3 action from the 2022 Royal Ascot Carnival. Once again, it's for the night owls in Australia, with the first race of the day kicking off at 11:30pm AEST Thursday night.

2022 Royal Ascot Betting Tips - Day 3
Race 1 - Norfolk Stakes (Group 2) - 11:30pm AEST
Day 3 of Royal Ascot Stakes kicks off with the Norfolk Stakes over 5f. The Aidan O’Brien runner The Antarctic will be popular. Perfect start to his career with 2 wins at Tipperary and Naas over this distance. Related to excellent sprinter Battaash this lad could go on to good things. WALBANK trained by David Loughnane looks another with plenty of potential. 2nd in a Novice Stakes here at the start of May won by a Godolphin fav that day. Then near the end of May he slammed rivals by 7 lengths at York, going clear from around a furlong out. He is the pick in the opener. Never underestimate a Mark Johnston runner and the trainer runs the Bungle Inthejungle colt Jungle Fever who could go well.
Race 2 - King George V Stakes - 12:05am AEST
I was torn between Secret State and Post Impressionist in this but I’ve decided to side with the Haggas runner POST IMPRESSIONIST who goes up in trip which will benefit him, nice first winner at Ayr in April and then bumped into Eldar Eldarov at Newcastle on the All Weather in May coming 2nd that day, the winner (Eldar Eldarov) went onto win the Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot yesterday. Solid form. Of the others Israr gets a good mention and for a cheeky each way Savvy Knight gets the vote.
Race 3 - Ribblesdale Stakes (Fillies' Group 2) - 12:40am AEST
Life Of Dreams recently ran 2nd to the exciting Emily Upjohn in the Musidora at York and Emily Upjohn was actually meant to run in this but her trainer commented “We feel Royal Ascot is coming too soon and she will be freshened up for targets at the end of July in either the Irish Oaks or the King George.”. With more improvement to come Life Of Dreams should go well. I am jumping on the Haggas bandwagon again in this race with his runner SEA SILK ROAD. A filly by Sea The Stars she has stepped up in trip on each of her starts and goes up in trip for this which she should like. Wins at Nottingham and Goodwood (Listed Fillies’) on her last two starts. Big chance! Magical Lagoon also gets a mention for Jess Harrington. Another with a good chance.
Race 4 - Gold Cup (Group 1) - 1:20am AEST
Feature race of the day is the Gold Cup. Winner of this race in 2018, 2019 and 2020 Stradivarius is one of the best stayers around but in this race, he is dealing with younger legs one of them being KYPRIOS trained by Aidan O’Brien, who got a winner on the board yesterday. Aidan knows all about this race winning it in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2016! Kyprios won a Listed race at Navan in April and on his last start demolished his rivals in a Group 3 at Leopardstown winning by 14 lengths! He wins for me. Alan King’s Trueshan has beaten Strad before and is another big player in this field.
Race 5 - Britannia Stakes - 2:00am AEST
A big field of runners go in the Britannia Stakes. I think Godolphin have a very good chance in this with their runners but the one horse for the boys in blue that I really fancy is TRANQUIL NIGHT. He has won all his starts so far in 2022 and although Will Buick rides Godolphin’s other runner King Of Time instead, don’t let that put you off. At much bigger odds Bolthole with Jamie Spencer onboard is the pick for the each-way fans.
Race 6 - Hampton Court Stakes (Group 3) - 2:35am AEST
This race is all about REACH FOR THE MOON who looks the class act in this field of 6 runners. His record reads 22112-2 with that recent 2nd coming in a Listed race at Sandown and that’s coming after a setback with the horse. I think he resumes his winning ways today for his famous owner the Queen in the royal silks. Claymore and Maksud to fill the places.
Race 7 - Buckingham Palace Stakes - 3:10am AEST
Another big field go in the Buckingham Palace Stakes. Plenty in with a chance including Silent Film, Vafortino, Inver Park and Fastnet Crown. The horse I am picking for the win is TANMAWWY. Has ran mostly over 6f (3 wins) and once at 7f at Leicester although he was beaten that day. He goes back up in trip today and should go well for Charlie Hills. The trainer had a winner yesterday in the Royal Hunt Cup.
