The 2022 NRL State of Origin kicks off next Wednesday night as one of Australian rugby’s fiercest rivalries resume the battle once more.
New South Wales regained bragging rights last year, winning the first two contests, before Queensland pulled back some pride with victory in the dead rubber. With Covid playing havoc across the country in 2021, all three games were played in Queensland, so Brad Fittler’s NSW side will welcome the chance to be back at Stadium Australia where they have won 19 of the 29 SOO matches there.
There doesn’t appear to be a dominant side on paper, with New South Wales installed as the early favourites ($1.65 at Ladbrokes) to win the series, but punters seem happy to throw their support behind Queensland ($2.25 at Ladbrokes).
With Game 2 to be played at the neutral Optus Stadium in Perth where a packed house is expected to be in attendance, if Queensland can find an edge in either of the first two games, they’ll head home to Suncorp Stadium with confidence to clench the series in Game 3.

2022 NRL State of Origin Betting Odds
For series betting, a New South Wales 2-1 result is $2.30 at Ladbrokes, while a Blues cleansweep is priced at $3.75.
The odds for Game 1 see New South Wales favoured at $1.65 with the line at -3.5 points.
Brian To’o is the favourite in the First Try Scorer market at $9.00 at Ladbrokes, ahead of Daniel Tupou ($9.75) and Xavier Coates ($10.50).
Often State of Origin matches can be tightm defensive contests, especially for Game 1 of the series where neither team wants to give an inch. Also keep an eye on the weather forecasts to see if any rain is predicted. The Points Total line is currently set at 35.5 points for Game 1.
