Liverpool vs Watford
Saturday 2nd April, 10.30pm (AEDT)
Man City’s goalless draw against Crystal Palace now has Liverpool’s title hopes well and truly alive, with the Reds set to face off with the league leaders next week. Liverpool host 18th placed Watford at Anfield on Saturday, who are coming off a 2-1 victory against Southampton.
Nine wins in a row, twenty three goals scored and two goals conceded across those nine games has Liverpool in some red hot form. Liverpool’s front three is putting together a historic season, with the Reds having the number one ranked attack in the Premier League this season scoring 75 goals. Liverpool have three of the top four goal scorers in the Premier League with Mo Salah (1st, 20 goals), Diogo Jota (equal 2nd, 13 goals) and Sadio Mane (equal 3rd, 12 goals).
In comparison, Watford are ranked 17th for scoring this season, having scored just 27 goals. The Reds have dominated against the bottom five teams in the Premier League this season. In eight games, Liverpool have an 8-0-0 record with an aggregate score of 27-2. The handicap should be no issue for Liverpool as they look to keep the pressure on Manchester City.
Manchester United vs Leicester
Sunday 3rd April, 2.30am (AEDT)
A 2-1 win over Brentford during the week sees Leicester head to Old Trafford with three wins from their last four games. The Red Devils last Premier League fixture took place a fortnight ago, in a 3-2 win over Tottenham. Manchester United have just three wins from their last seven games, and have had difficulties against mid table sides this season. United have had draws against Southampton (twice), losses to Wolves, Aston Villa and Leicester.
Leicester have won their last two games against Manchester United, including a 4-2 win earlier this season. Six of the last eight Premier League fixtures between the two sides have been decided by a goal or less.
Man United have been incredibly inconsistent this season, and they’ve often been brought down to the level of their opponents when facing less talented sides. Last week’s defeat at Old Trafford against Atletico Madrid would have dealt a big blow to United’s confidence and it’s difficult to see them producing a convincing performance with the form they are in. There's excellent value in the handicap for Leicester in this clash.
Tottenham vs Newcastle
Monday 4th April, 1.30am (AEDT)
After a red hot start to 2022, Newcastle have come back to earth with two consecutive losses, the latest a 1-0 defeat against a ten man Everton. Spurs are trending in the right direction sitting in fifth place on the Premier League table with four wins from their last five games.
Tottenham had an excellent week last week with a 2-0 win over Brighton and a 3-1 win over West Ham, which saw them move above the Hammers into fifth place keeping themselves in the hunt for a top four position. Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son have been in scintillating form across their last five games, combining for nine goals. Both Kane and Son scored in Tottenham’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle earlier in the season, and will be coming into this clash full of confidence.
Tottenham have had the wood over Newcastle in recent years, with Spurs holding a 6-2-1 record from their last nine Premier League meetings against Newcastle. The momentum that came from the abundance of January signing Newcastle had is beginning to wear off, and they're about to face a massive test against an in-form Spurs outfit.
