EPL Matchday 30 Betting Tips
Wolverhampton vs Leeds United
Saturday 19th March, 7.00am (AEDT)
Back to back wins last week has sparked life back into Wolverhampton’s Europa League hopes, and they’ve got a golden opportunity to make it three in a row when they host Leeds. A 94th minute winner from Joe Gelhardt broke a six game losing streak for Leeds, and gave new manager Jesse Marsch his first win in charge. Life doesn't get any easier though for Leeds coming up against the eighth placed Wolverhampton.
Leeds are four points above the relegation zone after going 1-1-7 in their last nine Premier League matches. Wolverhampton’s form since December has been quite solid, with an 8-4-1 record. Wolves have conceded just 23 goals this season, the fourth fewest this season and they’re only behind Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool. A remarkable effort for a club of Wolves’ size to be competing with some of the biggest clubs in the world.
Leeds barely managed to get over the line against bottom placed Norwich, so it’s difficult to see them finding a way to penetrate one of the best defences in the Premier League. Wolverhampton picked up two impressive wins during the week, with their attacking game beginning to take shape. Wolves won’t have many troubles in this clash, and will pick up a comfortable win.
Aston Villa vs Arsenal
Saturday 19th March, 11.30pm (AEDT)
The Gunners 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Thursday brought an end to a five game winning streak. Arsenal will have to back up on Saturday as they head to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa. Villa are coming off a 2-1 defeat against West Ham, which has them sitting in ninth place on the Premier League table. Arsenal have been outstanding since the beginning of 2022 with a 5-1-2 record in Premier League fixtures, with their only two losses coming against the top two sides in Man City and Liverpool.
Arsenal’s consistency has been built on their balance at both ends of the pitch, with the Gunners possessing the 5th ranked attack and the 7th ranked defence in the Premier League. Their ability to win games in a variety of different ways has been impressive as the Gunners sit in fourth with games in hand on the teams chasing them. Coming off a game against a side like Liverpool should hold them in good stead as they take on a mid table side.
Arsenal have a good record against Aston Villa in recent seasons, with a 7-0-3 in their last ten Premier League matches against Aston Villa. Arsenal have become a consistent side this season under Mikel Arteta and they continue to find a way to grind out results. Villa don’t have the quality in their side to go with the Gunners over 90 minutes.
Tottenham vs West Ham
Monday 21st March, 3.30am (AEDT)
London rivals Tottenham and West Ham face off in a battle of sixth vs seventh on the Premier League table. Spurs missed a golden opportunity to stay in the race for fourth place after a 3-2 defeat against Manchester United last weekend. West Ham got back on the winners list with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Matchday 29, but the Hammers look well and truly out of the top four race as they sit three points behind Arsenal who have three games in hand on West Ham.
Tottenham’s record against the top six sides in the Premier League has been awful, with a 2-1-6 record in nine games so far against the top six, with an aggregate score of 19-9. They’ve struggled to play well against the sides above them, and have lost their last two Premier League fixtures against West Ham.
The Hammers are the fourth highest scoring team in the Premier League this season, and they’re dynamic ball movement could put a slow Tottenham defence under some pressure that they won’t be able to handle. Spurs haven't been able to find any sort of consistency, and they've had a habit of getting complaicaint after midweek wins. This game will be an end to end affair, but West Ham will come out on top.
