EPL Matchday 27 Betting Tips
Brentford vs Newcastle
Sunday 26th February, 2.00am (AEDT)
Three wins from their last four games had Newcastle fans feeling comfortable about their chances of survival, but Burnley’s upset win over Tottenham during the week has Burnley just two points behind Newcastle, with a game in hand. Despite being fourteenth Brentford are only four points away from the relegation zone, with a 1-1-8 record in their last ten Premier League games.
Newcastle grinded out a 1-1 draw with West Ham in their last outing, while Brentford were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal. Brentford have been horribly out of form, but Newcastle have hit their best patch of form for this season, going unbeaten through their last six games. Brentford’s defence has been a massive issue, conceding sixteen goals from their last seven games.
These two sides played out a 3-3 draw earlier in the season, and given their struggles Brentford are going through at the back, there could be goals aplenty in this match. With Burnley right on their heels, this is a crucial clash for Newcastle which they have to win. Brentford have only won once since the turn of the calendar year, and Newcastle will add to their misery this weekend.
Everton vs Manchester City
Sunday 26th February, 4.30am (AEDT)
Despite going fifteen games unbeaten, Manchester City’s loss to Tottenham last week has given Liverpool a real chance in the title race. City sit just three points ahead of Liverpool but have a perfect opportunity to get back on track when they head to Goodison Park to take on Everton. The Toffees are in 15th place, just two points clear of the relegation zone after their 2-0 loss to Southampton last week.
Everton have gone 2-2-12 since Matchday 8, and have conceded twenty goals in their last ten games. Coming up against a Manchester City side that has a 14-1-1 record in their last sixteen games, and has scored 63 goals from 26 games this season, the second most in the Premier League, it doesn’t make for great reading for the Toffees.
City have won their last eight Premier League fixtures against Everton, with an aggregate score of 22-5 through those eight games. In their last seventeen Premier League meetings with Man City, Everton have a 1-4-12 record. The league leaders accounted for the Toffees 3-0 earlier this season, and they’ll pick up another comfortable win against Everton.
West Ham vs Wolverhampton
Monday 27th February, 1.00am (AEDT)
It’s a battle of fifth vs seventh on the Premier League table as West Ham take on Wolverhampton, in a game with big ramifications in the battle for fourth place. The Hammers are in fifth place on 42 points, while Wolves are in seventh on 40 points with two games in hand on West Ham.
Wolves have been one of the best defensive sides in the Premier League, conceding just 18 goals this season, the second fewest in the Premier League this season. In the last month Wolverhampton’s attacking game has lifted, scoring nine goals in their last four games. The improvement in their attacking game has been the catalyst behind their hot form, going 6-1-1 across their last eight games.
West Ham have struggled across the last month, with just one win from their last five games, which has stunted their Champions League aspirations. Wolverhampton’s defensive brand of football has been outstanding and they’ve continually grinded out results. Wolves match up well against a West Ham side that has been struggling, and will leapfrog the Hammers.
