A-League Round 14 Betting Tips
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne City FC
Friday 11th February, 7.45pm (AEDT)
Melbourne City travel to Sydney this Friday night to take on the Wanderers in an interesting matchup.
The Western Sydney Wanderers have begun life under Mark Rudan in steady fashion, taking three points from two matches last week with improved performances.
City, on the other hand, returned to winning ways against Newcastle on Tuesday with a 4-2 victory, thanks to the quality of returning international stars Jamie McLaren and Matthew Leckie.
It is the away side who look the favourite to win this one, with a reunited squad and stability that the Wanderers are yet to see. City has also dominated past encounters between these sides, unbeaten in their last seven matches against WSW dating back to 2019.
The historical record only supports my belief that City will get the points in this one.
Melbourne Victory vs Newcastle Jets
Saturday 12th February, 7.45pm (AEDT)
Another seemingly lopsided clash is scheduled for Saturday night, this one between Melbourne Victory and Newcastle Jets.
Victory are fresh off their FFA Cup triumph and have churned out consistent results since returning after the new years layoff.
They are very much fighting for the minor premiership and will relish playing at home in front of their fans again after the raucous celebrations last weekend.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are languishing near the foot of the table and have managed just the single win against lowly Brisbane since returning to action.
I generally don’t like picking favourites, but its hard to go past Melbourne here.
Central Coast Mariners vs Perth Glory
Sunday 13th February, 5.45pm (AEDT)
You have to feel for Perth Glory. Not only have they been struck down by COVID player absences recently, but there also appears to be no end in sight to their banishment from WA.
Perth sit dead bottom of the table and their win against Sydney FC seems like an age ago.
Looking at the form line of Central Coast, you may argue that they’re equally vulnerable, but there is more to the story. The Mariners have faced the stiffest of opposition over the last month, copping three consecutive losses to Melbourne City, Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory in all competitions.
Central Coast have also gotten onto the scoresheet in each of those games, so there is cause for optimism in the camp.
Against a Perth side that is running out of hope, I can see the Mariners bouncing back on Sunday.
