BBL11 Stars vs Scorchers Betting Tips
Junction Oval, Sunday 2nd January, 3.30pm (AEDT)
Melbourne Stars
Stars Squad: Glenn Maxwell (c), Qais Ahmad, Lachlan Bangs, Hilton Cartwright, Joe Clarke (wk) Brody Couch, Xavier Crone, Ahmad Daniyal, Syed Faridoun, Tom O'Connell, Haris Rauf, Tom F Rogers, Charles Wakim
What a few days it’s been for the Melbourne Stars. Their Thursday night game against the Scorchers was postponed due to COVID and their club is now in disarray with a whipping seven players and eight support staff having tested positive. It’s really unknown what their side could look like on Sunday, and reports have come through that their squad could even be filled out with players from rival clubs! Can you believe that?
Obviously, it’s pretty hard to get a read on their form heading into this game considering they could have as many as seven players out. It’s unlikely that we will know what their team will look like until early Sunday morning, as they will give those players as long as they can to produce negative tests.
Perth Scorchers
Predicted XI: Cameron Bancroft, Curtis Patterson, Colin Munro, Laurie Evans, Ashton Turner, Aaron Hardie, Ashton Agar, Andrew Tye, Tymall Mills, Jason Behrendorff, Peter Hatzoglou
The Scorchers squad will also have some new names on Sunday night but not due to COVID. Both Mitch Marsh and Josh Inglis have been called up to the Australian Test squad. Cameron Bancroft has been in and out of the side for Inglis already this season so seems the likely replacement at the top of the order and with the gloves. Marsh’s spot will likely go to either batsman Nick Hobson or if they need another bowling option, all-rounder Aaron Hardie.
The Scorchers lost their first game of the season against the Thunder in their last clash and will be desperate to bounce back and reclaim top spot on the table from the Sydney Sixers.
Match Prediction
It’s almost an impossible game to call here without knowing what sort of team the Stars are going to trot out on Sunday night. At them time of writing, there aren’t even any markets available for the game. When the team news breaks, it is likely that the Scorchers will be firm favourites to win even if it’s best case for the Stars and only a few are out.
Can’t see the Scorchers losing this one.
