BBL11 Sixers vs Stars Betting Tips
Sunday 5th December, 7.45pm (AEDT)
Sydney Sixers
Likely XI: Josh Philippe, Daniel Hughes, James Vince, Moises Henriques (c), Jordan Silk, Dan Christian, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, Steve O'Keefe
The reigning champions enter the new Big Bash League season as favourites to become the first back to back to back champions in BBL history after winning consectutive titles the last two years. Their core of Australian players remains largely the same but they have had a bit of a reshuffle of their international signings. Carlos Brathwaite was a late withdrawal from the squad, but in his place, the Sixers have added English duo Tom Curran and Chris Jordan.
The Sixers have a powerful top order consisting of Josh Philippe, Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques and Englishman James Vince, while their No.5 in Jordan Silk is arguably the best innings closer in the Big Bash League at the moment. This squad should be tough to beat on any given night.
Melbourne Stars
Confirmed XI: Joe Clarke, Peter Nevill (wk), Nick Larkin, Glenn Maxwell (c), Hilton Cartwright, Beau Webster, Sam Rainbird, Sam Elliot, Brody Couch, Adam Zampa, Syed Faridoun
The Melbourne Stars had a busy off-season in terms of player movement but their core, their more three important players, will all be back in BBL11. Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa are arguably the three best T20 players in Australia at the moment, and they'll all be launching into the new Big Bash League season fully fit and in form after solid IPL and T20 World Cup campaigns.
Talented English top order batsman and wicket-keeper Joe Clarke will likely join Stoinis at the top of the order while Beau Webster will be a very handy inclusion in the middle order with both bat and ball. With one roster spot still open, it still feels like the Stars have another big name to sign though, probably a batsman to slot in at No.5.
Match Prediction
Couldn't have got a much tougher game to call for the season opener. I think the Melbourne Stars will be much improved on last season simply due to the fact that they will not have any international duty absences hanging over the heads of their big three. They have an extremely tough start to the season though with an away game against the reigning champions.
Going to have to side with the home team here. The Sixers won their first five games at home last season before some dead rubbers at the end of the year ended their streak. One of those five wins came over tge Melbourne Stars, where they chased down a mammoth total of 193 with one ball to spare after a brilliant 96 from Daniel Hughes and some late game hitting from Carlos Brathwaite.
Same Game Multi
A lot of the Australian bookmakers have had some great promotions for the Big Bash League in recent years revolving around same game multis and missing one out of three legs. We will be giving you a same game multi tip for every game this season.
Our first two legs for this SGM will be James Vince and Marcus Stoinis both to surpass 10 runs. Stoinis has passed the 10 run mark in his last seven innings in a row and dating all the way back to 2007, he has scored at least 10 runs in a very healthy 81% of games.
Vince has passed the mark in five of his last six games, and in his BBL career he also has a 81% success rate when it comes to passing the 20 run mark. Our final leg is the Sixers to score more than 145 runs. They did so in 14/16 games last season.
Stoinis 10+ Runs
Vince 10+ Runs
Sixers 145+ Runs
