We’ve got quality racing across the country again this Saturday highlighted by the final day of the Autumn Carnival at Randwick. There’s two Group 1s on the nine-race card: the Champagne Stakes and All Aged Stakes.
Caulfield will play the supporting role where there are also nine races. Billy Bestford has done the form across both meetings and provided his best bets throughout the day, as well as one standout at Morphettville.

Horse Racing Tips: Saturday, April 17th
Randwick Race 4
It was impossible to miss (1) Zaaki’s local debut run in the Doncaster. Ran the third fastest last 200 for the day - an incredible performance considering his first run back for nearly 7 months. Will only strip fitter for that and now steps out to a more suitable trip. Finds Jmac here 2nd up and should enjoy a good run from the gate. Only needs to bring natural improvement on last start and I think he will be extremely hard to beat.
Randwick Race 6 - G1 Champagne Stakes
The G1 Champagne Stakes sees some quality two year olds go head to head yet again. I’m keen on (2) Hilal who was doing his best work late in the Sires behind Anamoe. That’s easily the best 2yo form here and if he runs out the mile I think he looks a massive winning chance. Finally draws a gate today and hoping he can sit more forward in the run than he has in recent starts. Keen.
Randwick Race 7 - G1 All Aged Stakes
The final G1 of the Autumn carnival sees a strong field line up for the All Aged Stakes. Thought (10) Savatiano looked ready to fire here first up. Should be up on the speed and in front of most of her main rivals here. Finished off last prep with three straight wins and 1400m is her pet distance. (2) Masked Crusader is a deserved favourite after his flashing 2nd behind Nature Strip in the TJ Smith Stakes. He’ll be hard to beat but happy to slide towards the Godolphin at the price.
Caulfield Race 5
(6) All Of Brighton was huge last start in a hot race. He very nearly knocked off the smart Minhaaj there and ran some fast closing splits once he saw clear air. Think the step to 1200m suits and gets in nice and light with a good claim for Madison Lloyd who rode him a treat last start. The way the track was playing may have aided him on the day but I think this is a horse with plenty of talent and looks a good winning chance at the price on offer.
(6) All Of Brighton
$4.80
Morphetville Race 7
Heading to SA late in the day where (2) Groundswell looks one of the better bets of the day anywhere in the country. Romped in fresh at Bendigo and now gets out to his most preferred trip. Lane comes to Adelaide to stick with him and I like that they’ve given the horse a little freshen up in between runs. Makes his own luck up on speed and will take some running down.
