Matchday 25 of the Premier League season is upon us! Man City have leapt away at the top of the table, however the race for the remaining top four positions is on a knife's edge! We have you covered with our betting tips for the key games below.
Liverpool vs Everton
Sunday 4:30am AEDT, Anfield
It’s one of the most important Merseyside derbies in a long time as Liverpool host Everton at Anfield. Liverpool are sitting sixth on the Premier League table after a disastrous loss to Leicister, and now have only a three point lead on the seventh placed Everton, who have a game in hand on the defending champions.
Whilst they are in a slump, the defending champs have had plenty of success over their Merseyside rivals in recent years. Liverpool haven’t lost to the Toffees in the Premier League since 2010, in that time Liverpool has beaten Everton on nine occasions, and shared the points in twelve encounters. Despite the great strides Everton have taken this season in bridging the gap between ‘the big six’, this hoodoo still haunts them, as they failed to defeat an undermanned Liverpool outfit back in October. Golden boot leader Mo Salah has scored in two of his last four appearances against Everton, including when the two sides met earlier this season.
After suffering an embarrassing 2-0 defeat to relegation bound Fulham last week, and a 3-1 loss mid week to Manchester City, the Toffees are out of form and the mid week fixture may take a physical toll, it doesn’t look good for Everton. Liverpool are bound to get back to their winning ways, expect them to rise to the occasion in the Merseyside derby.
Manchester United vs Newcastle
Monday 6:00am AEDT, Old Trafford
After a red hot patch in the middle of the season, Manchester United have cooled off only picking up four points from their last three league games. They get a great opportunity to get back on track when they host seventeenth placed Newcastle at Old Trafford. Newcastle have conceded 40 goals this season, the fourth most in the Premier League. Manchester United have been the highest scoring team in the competition, scoring 50 goals this season.
The Red Devils put four goals past Newcastle the last time these two sides met, and have scored 13 goals in their last three league games. Portuguese maestro Bruno Fernandes has led the attacking blitz from United this season, scoring fourteen goals and tallying up nine assists, directly creating 23 goals this season, the second most in the Premier League.
Manchester United have shown plenty of attacking prowess this season and the ruthlessness to keep their foot on the throat, you only need to look back to their 9-0 victory over Southampton two weeks ago to see that mindset. Newcastle have been out of sorts, registering just two victories from their past thirteen Premier League matches. Expect a convincing win here for the Red Devils.
