Match Prediction
It’s do or die for the Stars on Tuesday night. They currently sit in seventh place on the BBL table, three points behind the Thunder and Hobart, who sit in fourth and fifth place respectively. Luckily for them, they will know what they need to do before the game starts on Tuesday night. There is a scenario where this becomes a dead rubber for the Stars, but three separate teams would all need to win their final matchup of the season for that to happen.
The Stars have lost their last two on the trot and they are coming off a particularly disappointing loss to the Scorchers in their last game that saw them fall just 11 runs short after Perth posted a massive total of 182. The form of Glenn Maxwell has been a real issue, the skipper has scored under 10 in five of his last seven games and if not for the emergence of Nick Larkin at No.3, the Stars batting line-up would be in massive trouble.
The Sixers are coming off two straight losses of their own and have subsequently surrendered the top spot on the table to the Perth Scorchers. They have already qualified for the finals, so there won’t be as much riding on this game for them, however, they will be keen to win this one and give themselves a chance at the top spot and the home field advantage that comes with it.
The Sixers have struggled with the ball in their back to back losses, particularly early in the innings. They allowed Alex Hales of the Thunder to get off the chain, scoring 110 off just 56 balls and in their second loss, Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short combined for a 145 run opening stand. They will be waiting on baited breath for the decision from star paceman Mitch Starc, who could be a massive inclusion to the side for this clash and their finals campaign.
Whether Starc plays this clash or not, I like the Stars here. There is so much on the line for them and the form of Nick Larkin will be inspiring for teir confidence. They will likely make some changes at the top of the order which should strengthen their batting line-up and Maxwell could come in sooner than usual to play a captains knock. Back them in a must win clash.
Stars Prop Bet
The Stars desperately need to address their top order woes and I feel like this is the game where they will do so. They experimented with Seb Gotch at the top of the order on Saturday against the Scorchers to no avail and with Andre Fletcher injured and terribly out of form, it’s time to inject state superstar James Seymour in at the top of the order.
Seymour has been banging down the door with a pile of runs at state level and was finally given a Stars contract after smashing 390 runs at an average of 130.0 in the first five Victorian Premier Cricket games of the season. The hard hitting left-hander should have been brought in as a super-sub in the Stars last game to add batting depth, I don’t think they make the same mistake by leaving him out again. As an opener, he’s great value to top the Stars runscorers list.

Sixers Prop Bet
Josh Philippe has been the guy with the bat for the Sixers this season. Through 12 games, the opener has smashed 441 runs at an average of 36.75 and was close to a maiden BBL ton earlier in the season when he clobbered 95 off just 57 balls in a win over the Renegades.
He was solid the last time these two teams met, hitting 22 off 19 balls to get the Sixers off to a good start and in the BBL09 Grand Final last year, Philippe scored 52 off just 29 balls to carry the Sixers to a defendable total of 116 off just 12 overs. Back him to top the Sixers runscorers list here.
