We are in for an absolute cracking match Saturday night as the ladder-leading Sydney Sixers take on the in-form team of the competition in the Perth Scorchers.
The Sixers’ season just keeps rolling as they head into this match off the back of a big win against arch rivals, the Sydney Thunder. The Sixers have been unstoppable all tournament and now sit six points clear at the top of the BBL ladder. They will have their work cut out for them tonight as they take on a high-flying Scorchers who have won five-straight!
As mentioned, Perth are easily the form side of the competition and have really turned the screws on their season now. They’ve won their last five matches to move them up into 3rd and will look to keep that momentum going here tonight. They come into this off a dominant nine-wicket win over the Hurricanes.

Match Prediction
Well not many would have expected this a few weeks ago but this match now sets up to be one of the best of the tournament so far. The Scorchers have found their mojo and are absolutely flying at the moment. Their great run of form has seen them soar up the ladder and many will be expecting them to give the finals a shake now.
With that being said, the Sixers are obviously the team to beat at the moment having won 7 of their 10 matches so far and looking strong no matter who they put on the park. I’m going to side with the team in-form however and think the Scorchers can roll the Sixers here in canberra tonight. When a team wins five straight matches, especially in a tournament with such quick turnarounds between matches, you have to take notice. Momentum is a massive factor in the Big Bash and I think the Scorchers are riding a huge wave here.
The Sixers are also six points clear at the top of the table and they could be forgiven for taking their foot off the pedal in tonight’s match. They have been tinkering around with their lineup in recent matches and looking to give some less experienced players a run. The Sixers, while winning, have still been conceding a lot of runs throughout the tournament and if there is a weakness in their side it would be the bowlers at the moment. This is a massive reason why I like the Scorchers in this match. Lead by English duo Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone, the Scorchers batsmen have been in great form and have been piling on the runs in recent weeks.
I’m expecting a hard fought match between two quality sides tonight but think the Scorchers might just have too much to play for compared to the men in magenta. The form of the Scorchers batsmen will be a key factor in the outcome and hopefully for our sake, they can get on top of the Sixers’ bowlers.
Sydney Sixers Prop Bet
As has been the case all season, I’m keen to stick with a winning formula and back the same players regularly from each team. Josh Philippe is my man for the Sixers and he got the job done in their last match for us with a massive 64 off 36 balls.
The key for Phillipe is sticking around for a few early overs to get his eye in and then cashing in later in the innings. There has been no in between with his performances, where he’s either been out early or top scored with a big score. So let’s hope he can stick around and do a job in a massive match against one of the most in-form bowling attacks of the tournament.
Philippe tops the run scoring charts this season with a monster 337 runs and has been in solid form all tournament. Let’s hope he can keep this rolling for us again here.

It becomes a bit tougher to pinpoint the top performer in this Scorchers team with so many of them in great form at this stage of the tournament. I’m going to side with Jason Roy for similar reasons as Philippe. He hasn’t really let us down too much and he has been in super form this tournament.
Since Roy has joined the Scorchers they have looked a different side and has been at the forefront of their resurgence. Roy comes into this off his best performance of the tournament (74 off 52) and will need to be at his brilliant best to give the Scorchers a chance against the best team in the competition.
