The Hurricanes have started the season on fire with wins against the Sixers and the Strikers. Fears of a lack of depth in the Canes batting line up have been put to bed early in the season, with scores of 178 and 174 for the start of the season. The Hurricanes have won their last two games against the Strikers, including a 10 run win in BBL09 when the Hurricanes piled on 1/217. Whilst the Strikers tail enders made the result respectable on Sunday, the Strikers batting lineup looks shallow without Alex Carey and Travis Head.
The Hurricanes variety with the ball gave them plenty of avenues to expose the Strikers batting line up. They have swing, speed and length bowling with Faulkner, Meredith and Boland. Botha provides them with stability, whilst Nathan Ellis has become arguably the best death bowler in the competition.
Matthew Renshaw was the only batsmen in the top seven for the Strikers to score double digits against the Hurricanes on Sunday. If Phil Salt and Jake Weatherald don’t get the Strikers off to a quick start, the middle order is very shaky. The Hurricanes have gotten on top of Rashid Khan in their last two outings against the Strikers, with the star leg spinner returning figures of 0/35 and 1/38.
The Hurricanes are thriving on an early block of the home games to start their BBL10 campaign. With the form the Hurricanes batsmen are in, coupled with the lack of depth in the Strikers line up, expect the Hurricanes to do the double on the Strikers.

D’Arcy Short bounced back from a horror opening game, smashing 72 off 48 on Sunday afternoon. Short has dominated the Strikers throughout his career, scoring 431 runs at an average of 61. Short’s last six innings against the Strikers has scored 72, 72, 26, 73*, 28 and 96. Short has shown he can play Rashid Khan as good as anyone in the BBL, and that creates plenty of opportunities to pile on big scores against the Strikers.
Short has had his way against the Strikers, and you can expect that to continue on Tuesday night when the two sides meet for the second time in three days. Don’t look past Short as the Hurricanes top run scorer.

Wes Agar had a quality BBL09 campaign, taking 17 wickets at an average of 21. Agar was the pick of the bowlers for the Strikers in their loss on Sunday, taking 2/28 from his four overs. Agar picked up the crucial wickets of Hurricanes openers D’Arcy Short and Will Jacks. Agar took his career best figures in the BBL last season against the Hurricanes, with 4/33.
Agar bowls crucial overs at the death, which always provides him with wicket taking opportunities. With Rashid Khan’s struggles against the Hurricanes, Agar is an excellent value choice as the Strikers leading wicket taker.
