The 2020-21 EPL season resumes this weekend after a week off for international break. We gave punters plenty to smile about in Matchday 4 where we landed some great bets, including Tottenham to beat Manchester United at $3.75.
We now turn our attention to the upcoming weekend of action for Matchday 5. As always, we preview some of the key games and provide our best bets. Good luck if following!
EPL Matchday 5 Betting Tips
Everton vs Liverpool
Goodison Park, Saturday 10:30pm AEDT
Everton made some big moves in the off-season and it looks to be masterstroke as they come into this weekend at the top of the table. James Rodriguez has been exceptional since crossing over from Real Madrid, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin has developed into a huge goal scoring threat up front.
Liverpool went into the international break in the worst possible way, losing 7-2 to Aston Villa in their final game. It was a truly embarrassing performance and a stark reminder that anything can happen in the Premier League.
Liverpool’s defence has been terrible so far this campaign and we believe Everton have the firepower to make them pay once again. After such a great start to the season, it’s a bit of a slap in the face to put them up at near $4 to win at home. We’ll be taking some extra security by taking them to win or draw.
Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United
THS, Monday 2:30am AEDT
We backed Tottenham to the hills in their clash with Manchester United and they certainly didn’t disappoint. We were a touch worried early when they immediately conceded a penalty, but after that it was all one-way traffic for the Spurs in a 6-1 thrashing.
West Ham were also very good winners in their recent match with Leicester. They were big underdogs on the road but it certainly didn’t seem that way with how dominant they were. The Hammers have put together a pretty strong month of football and would be happy with two wins from a tricky schedule to date.
We’ve been impressed by West Ham for the most part this season, but it’s hard to see them hanging with the Spurs on their home deck. Tottenham have shown ruthlessness in a couple of matches this season and we expect them to be winning this while scoring multiple goals.
Tottenham & Over 2.5 Goals

Leicester City vs Aston Villa
King Power Stadium, Monday 5:15am AEDT
Leicester got their season off to a flying start with three wins from three games, but suffered their first defeat last time out against West Ham. It was a bizarre performance from the Foxes on their home deck, managing just four shots at goal for the entire match.
Aston Villa put in the performance of the round in Matchday 4 when they pounded the defending champs by five goals. It was one of those matches where everything seemed to go their way and they made the most of it.
Villa were superb in their drubbing of Liverpool, but there’s been an overcorrection in the market in our opinion. Give me $1.80+ for Leicester to win at home against a bottom club any day of the week.
