SE Melbourne Phoenix vs Brisbane Bullets
Saturday 5:30pm AEDT, October 21st, John Cain Arena
Already with a win under their belts in Round 4, the Phoenix will be looking to improve their season record to 4-3. They were far too good for the 36ers on the road on Thursday night, defeating them by 17 points (102-85). Alan ‘Big Sauce’ Williams was fantastic in his first game of the season and really helped protect the paint, which is something they were lacking in the opening couple of rounds. They now take on the Bullets who after a hot start to their campaign have suffered three straight losses to fall to 2-3. The Phoenix are the deserving short-priced favourites in this matchup, however it’s the unders in the total points market that looks to be the best play here. Big Sauce helps tighten things up on the defensive end and the bookies are yet to adjust to his influence.

Adelaide 36ers vs Perth Wildcats
Saturday 8pm AEDT, October 21st, Adelaide Entertainment Centre
The 36ers secured a rare win against the struggling Hawks last weekend but quickly reverted back to their losing ways on Thursday night when going down cheaply to the Phoenix. The 36ers have now lost four of their five games to date in NBL24 and will be hoping that the acquisition of sharpshooter DJ Vasiljevic can help spark a resurgence. Elsewhere, the Wildcats have also underperformed in the early part of the season and enter Round 4 with a 2-3 record. They lost both of their games in Round 3, although they faced tough opposition in United and the Kings. They’ll start as the clear favourites against the 36ers and that’s fair enough considering how poor the 36ers have looked for the most part. However, the value looks to be in the total points market where the unders should be saluting. The 36ers lack the offensive firepower to put up big scores and the 184.5 total just feels far too high as a result.

Melbourne United vs New Zealand Breakers
Sunday 2pm AEDT, October 22nd, John Cain Arena
What a cracking game this should be to get Sunday hoops underway in Round 4. Melbourne United enter this clash at 5-1 which has them sitting on top of the standings. They made light work of the Hawks in their opening game of the round, with Next Star Ariel Hukporti shining once again. Meanwhile, the New Zealand Breakers will be playing just their third game of the season due to their recent commitments in the NBAxNBL where they played a couple of games in USA. It’s a tough ask for the Breakers to fly in and out of the country and take on United here, especially on enemy territory. United have played a lot more basketball together this season and their chemistry will be superior as a result. I’m expecting them to improve their record to 6-1 with another good win on Sunday.
