Portland Trail Blazers at Indiana Pacers
Gainbridge Fieldhouse, 11:10am AEDT
The Portland Trailblazers threw everything they had at the Milwaukee Bucks yesterday, and even with a 16 point half time lead were unable to get over the line. They now head to Indiana where they have to back up and play against the up tempo and under the radar Pacers on the second night of a back-to-back. The Trailblazers have lost 9 of their last 10 games, with their solitary win during that run against the equally struggling Jazz. We saw what Scoot Henderson is capable of in the first half yesterday, however like the rest of the team, the consistency in application isn’t quite there yet in life post-Lillard. The Pacers are a solid team producing a more consistent level to start this season, largely off the back of Tyrese Haliburton’s excellent start to the season. Playing at pace in what shapes as a high-scoring affair, I like the Pacers to run the Blazers off their feet here. I will take the full game line, however I also like 3rd/4th quarter lines in this one.

Washington Wizards at Detroit Pistons
Little Caesars Arena, 11:10am AEDT
Well the beauty about this match-up is…somebody has to win! Both teams have shown that they show the explosive offensive firepower to be able to score, and score quickly. The faults are fairly and squarely at the other end of the court, with these two displaying the 23rd (Detroit) and 30th (Washington) defensive ratings for the season. With limited rim protection for the Wizards, giving up the 2nd most points in the paint, the likes of Cade Cunningham, Alec Burks, and even Ivey, Knox and Sasser should be able to attack, with Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren to clean up offensive boards as well as hold up their own on the defensive end with the assistance of Stewart. There appears to be more method to the Pistons style early in the season, with the Wizards a little too reliant on outside shooting from the likes of Kuzma, Poole, and Kispert. Deni Avdija has started the season strongly, but with Poole questionable, too much is being left to too few, even if Poole were to play.

Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Clippers
Crypto.com Arena, 2:40pm AEDT
The plan for the Denver Nuggets yesterday would have been to start strongly against the San Antonio Spurs, and put themselves in a position to be able to rest their starters in preparation for the Clippers tonight. Instead, the starters played until the final 91 seconds, and the Nuggets have travelled to Los Angeles overnight in preparation for the Clippers.
The Clippers are still developing their chemistry, however they will have learnt a number of lessons from their recent tight loss to the Nuggets in Denver. They were on top of that match-up going into the final couple of minutes, until Ivica Zubac was benched and Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were left to try and defend Nikola Jokic. The Clippers have more options now with Daniel Theis on the roster, so there are more defensive looks they can throw at Jokic. With the Nuggets coming into LA on the second leg of a back-to-back, and the Clippers well rested, the home side should have too much firepower for the defending champs in their current away form (3 wins and 6 losses for the season).
