Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday January 27th

January 26th 2024, 7:12pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Moonee Valley Racing Tips

Moonee Valley will host Saturday racing this weekend with a massive 10-race program on offer for punters. The first race starts at 12:15pm (AEDT), while the last start race concludes at 5:40pm. The track will be rated a Good4 and, (1) Acid Wash in the first is the horse that we hope gets us rolling after a below par week with a return in the negative.

Find our best bets for the Valley below and be sure to check out our Racing Tips page for more best bets from the key meets around the country this Saturday!

Ladbrokes

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday, January 27th 2024

Race 1: Ladbroke It Handicap - 12:15pm (AEDT)

(1) Acid Wash could have easily won all races to date and comes into this event on the back of a easy 5.75L win at Cranbourne. He has the ability to lead in his races as well as come from behind so barrier 8 will not worry him. Jamie Kah is on and she has won on him before. He will start favourite for the third consecutive race and deserves to be.

(5) Mawhera is 1 from 1 on the Good surface and the increase in distance should suit after he ran on well to score at Cranbourne last start. Luke Curries replaces Jake Noonan for the ride.

(6) Socks Nation may lead and will be tough to run down if he does. He tried those tactics at Caulfield and just got caught over the last 20m to run 2nd on December 14. Has started favourite his last couple and has to be respected.

(1) Acid Wash

$2.00 (3 Units)

Race 6: Ranvet Travis Harrison Cup - 3:05pm (AEDT)

(1) Mankayan ran a gallant 2nd when first up from a spell and he did hit the line very well in that race suggesting that the rise in distance suits. He has won over this track & distance previously and he has an excellent strike rate of being in the money having finished in the top 3 on 20 of 28 occasions. John Allen is on for the first time but I reckon that he would have ridden him in trackwork so will know the horse.

(2) Don’t Doubt Dory likes Dry ground and hit the line well last start on a track that was favouring the on pace runners. She was only 1L behind Bermadez last start and that horse went on to win last Saturday.

(3) Independent Road will likely lead this field and be in this for a long way. The Good track suits and although he hasn't won at The Valley, I think the track might suit him on Saturday.

(1) Mankayan

$3.50 (2 Units)

Race 10: Piper-Heidsieck Handicap - 5:40pm (AEDT)

(6) Pereille has drawn a bit wide but will be fitter after running a strong 2nd at Rosehill on resumption. He loves this distance and has never missed a placing over the trip and Damian Lane rides again and he is 1 from 1 on the gelding. He will probably try and settle him around sixth with cover, but without getting trapped three wide. Pereille has place in all races when second up and will start favourite.

(4) Danny’s St Darci has drawn very wide in 12 but he did storm home at Geelong when running 2nd on January 6. He has won twice over this track and distance and has ran in some pretty handy races over the last 12 months.

(7) Squad is fitter now and goes well on Good ground. It's his first try over the distance and from barrier 5 he will likely roll forward in this one. Unplaced over the distance but does go well when third up.

(6) Pereille

$2.50 (2 Units)
