There are nine Christmas Eve races on the card at Moonee Valley on Saturday with runners racing on a Good 4 surface in front of what will be a festive crowd.
Race one starts at 12:35pm, with the last race concluding at 5:40pm.
Brendan Bunworth has taken a good hard look at the card and picked out four of his best bets of the day. Check out his Moonee Valley tips below!
Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday, December 24th 2022
Race 3
(3) Inundation gets a gun jockey in Jamie Kah on here and is first up after a poor effort in his latest run when favourite. He is expected to bounce back here after an easy win before his last start failure. Since the spell he has trained on well and won a recent jumpout with ease.
(6) Jabali Ridge goes well second up and stormed home for 2nd last time. If there is pace on, he will be strong late again.
(8) Red Card won well at Pakenham last start and Blake McDougall hops on here on a filly that has won three races from four starts on Good tracks.
(7) Capital Reign goes from 1100m to 1000m but has been in the money five from 9 starts over that distance. He hasn't won in a while but can run into the top 4 if she can be put in a good position early.
(3) Inundation

Race 6
(3) Ashy Boy has run well his last two starts and returns to The Valley after running third three weeks ago over the 2000m. He raced a bit wayward in the run last time and if he can settle here he is a big chance. He will settle on pace and should get a nice run in transit but he hasn't won in over 12 months so we will want some value, which we should get.
(5) Let’s Sea has run second twice second up from three attempts and can place here. He won well at Ararat when favourite last start and although this is harder, he gets a Good track again which he enjoys.
(7) Freedom Escape was last at Flemington last time but will forgive that run. He is down in class and if there is pace on, he will be strong to the line.
(4) Motamayiz has a wide barrier in 11 but has Damien Oliver on who won with him at this track last start. This is harder but the distance is no issue.
(3) Ashy Boy
$8.50 (1 unit)
Race 8
(12) Wahine Toa for the Maher & Eustace stable is a horse that I have backed on a few occasions during its career and the lightly raced mare has been set for this 2500m race I reckon. She has settled on speed in her last couple and has raced very well and if The Valley is leader biased, that will play into her hands nicely here. From barrier one she should be able to settle third (leaders back) and get a nice run.
(7) Kaituku is a consistent gelding for the Wilde team and the stable knows how to train a stayer. He does seem to go better on Softer tracks so if the track is downgraded to Soft, he is a major player.
(4) Wertheimer is down in class and is one who will want the pace on. He usually settles back and is strong to the line. The tempo of the race is they key with this one.
(3) Sous Les Nuages was backed to win at Morphetville last start (2nd) and will be stronger for that 2500m effort.
(12) Wahine Toa
$5.50 (2 units)
Race 9
(8) Belsielle is a big chance if she can jump with them this time. Last start at Pakenham she missed the start when ninth but before that she ran a great race at Rosehill on August 6 when 7th only beaten 1.8L to Meg. She is one who runs on late and if she can get a nice cart into the race, she just might get the last crack at them.
(10) Sham I Am has the inside barrier and has won two races at The Valley. She is down in class and may choose to lead from the barrier.
(7) Vongole goes well on dry tracks and was running on well last start behind Invincible Caviar, but it was too late.
(5) Come Along Jeffrey hasn't been beaten too far his last couple and he did win well before that at Bendigo.
(8) Belsielle
$8.00 (1 unit)
